My mom just told me to watch that one, because it takes place in my new neighborhood in Bklyn. Gonna have to check it out.

Since I've been talking about comedies lately, here's one that not everyone has heard of. It's not completely obscure but not very well known either:

Probably my second most quoted film apart from Pulp Fiction.

Make sure you get the version that hasn't had some scenes cut or redubbed because the Movie studios buy into the belief that all Americans are thick as pigshit and won't be able to watch a movie that has references to non-American things.

Actually this movie was bigger than Scarface was when it first came out. It just doesn't have a cult following so hardly anyone from my generation has even heard of it.

Pretty much pause Scarface before "Say hello to my little friend", throw him in jail for a long time then release him. And this is where this movie basically starts at. Like I said, older generations love this movie and know about it but not younger people.
What A Tribe Called Quest is to Tupac and Biggie, is what this movie is to Scarface. If that makes sense...

I want to thank you and groan you at the same time for this post. Talk to Me is definitely an under the radar movie that I love. Don Cheadle was fantastic.

On the other hand, Carlito's Way came about a decade after Scarface. Therefore, it couldn't possibly be ATCQ to Tupac & Biggie. And no, that "analogy" you tried to make, makes no sense whatsoever. It was very popular but never, at any point bigger than Scarface. It's hardly a movie no one's ever heard of. I'm willing to bet most of the "younger" generation who love Scarface have at least seen and certainly know about Carlito's Way. And let's not forget P. Diddy brought extra attention to it just a couple years ago when he made the straight-to-DVD sequel.

Yet another movie that has no business in this thread. :club:

Maybe it doesn't belong here but I'm pretty sure the average person in highschool has no idea what this movie is. You can say Scarface and everyone knows what you're talking about but hardly anyone would know Carlito's Way. I have Rise to Power on DVD lol

No DVD release apparently, been searching the interwebs high and low for a torrent.

I'm 24 and don't know anybody who hasn't heard of Carlito's Way. And Carlito's Way was not half as good as Scarface. Carlito's Way was decent, nothing special, as Dell said, definitely not worthy of being mentioned in this thread.

And I've never seen Rise to Power and I never plan to. Looks fucking shitty.
 
lol I never said it was better than Scarface, I just looked at how much the 2 films gross and for some reason I thought that I saw that Carlito's Way made more, meaning it was more popular at the time of it's release.

Like I said maybe it doesn't belong in this thread but you can't tell me that the film is popular among the younger generation(high school kids).
