Big weekend for movies...

With the two kids, I rarely get out to movies if they're not effects-laden. I'll probably eventually see Black Swan, and possibly True Grit and The Fighter.

Saw Tron last weekend. While the movie was good, the ending was horribly written, and could have been 10x better with some simple revisions. Also, you have to ignore some of the bad de-aging CGI. As I said to my wife on the way out, it seemed that they were about two years away from really making that work.

Haven't even taken the 8 YO to Harry Potter yet. Maybe this weekend or next, assuming it's still out.
 
agree with Goblin, only a handful of really good movies this year, next year, comic book movie galore, but they are all gonna suck probably, Green Lantern, Green Hornet, Thor, Captain America, hurry up 2012 and give us Batman and Superman, dont really care for the reboot of Spider-Man, just saw Ghost Rider comes out in 2012 too, Yawn

2010 was pretty shit for a while, but it's picked up at the end.

Nothing good came out between Shutter Island in February and Inception in June, but from there we had a pretty good run. The Town was entertaining as hell, 127 Hours is great, Black Swan promises to be great. I'm sure many people will like The Fighter, but nawt me, nawt me, and nawt me.

Went to see True Grit last night. We all agreed it was a good movie, but there was just something missing.

 
The beginning was boring as fuck, probably because the girl was annoying. But I enjoyed the two leads. I loled when they hanged the Indian and that turkey retard. I thought the ending had something missing, it was too rushed. Also, be careful, if you blink you'll miss Josh Brolin's part in the movie.
 
True Grit was another great Coen Brothers flick. Classic western.

Acting was phenomenal, the girl was very good. At first I thought she would ruin the movie for me because she is 14 and I didn't know how far they would let her go but her character was realistic and very well acted. Bridges, as always, was perfect. The dialogue, as expected, was superb.

Next up is Black Swan or The Fighter. I've heard nothing but great things about both.
 
True Grit was great, not sure if I enjoyed it or Black Swan more. Now I have to still see The Fighter, a friend described it as:

"The Departed and Million Dollar Baby have a baby, and then by some miracle that baby and Gone Baby Gone have a baby, it would be The Fighter.... The Fighter, the product of baby fucking."

Everybody knows. Every time anyone brings up the Fighter you feel the need to chime in about how you're not excited for it or how bad it looks.

We get it, you're not a boxing guy, you don't like cliche movies, you're too cool for school. Just so you know, it is based on the true story of Micky Ward. If you ever seen one of his fights, you'll probably appreciate the movie much more.

Yeah I did. Was disappointed at first but I like that it is about him rather than his fights. I know about all of his fights, I don't know all that much about him.
