Biggest surprise of Week 2 in the NFL?

What was the biggest surprise to you? Here are a few things I didn't expect in Week 2.

*Bears defeat Cowboys, and Cowboys put virtually no pressure on Cutler for most of the game. This wasn't a huge surprise to me considering Dallas is always in a state of disarray, but I thought the Cowboys defense would maul Cutler and the Cowboys would win at home.

*Jets over Pats, Sanchez plays well. The Pats looked really good in Week 1, the Jets looked really bad, and Sanchez's performance had the media predicting the Jets' demise. But Sanchez tore apart an average Pats defense, and Brady turned the ball over.

*Darren McFadden rushes for 100+ yards!

*Steelers convincingly defeat Titans with 4th string QB (Charlie Batch). I thought the Chris Johnson and the Titans would be able to put up enough points on the Steelers to win, but the Steelers defense with Polamalu is pretty tough.

*Cincinnati plays bad in week 1, but handles the Ravens in Week 2.

*Vikings start 0-2.



To me, the biggest surprise was Mark Sanchez's performance against the Pats. I still think he sucks, but he did play well on Sunday.

Credit Tice with whatever adjustments he made that helped stop DemArcus Ware from being all over Cutler after the 1st quarter. The line still can't run block for shit though.

I haven't watched the Raiders/Rams game, but I did watch the Raiders/Titans game last week, and Darren McFadden looked awesome. Caught a lot of balls out of the backfield made some moves and made some plays. Looked very good running and juking.

I was pretty surprised by Javhid Best getting 9 catches 150 yards and a TD along with 75 yards rushing and 2 TDs. Giving him 5 TDs in 2 games.

I was surprised Jamal Charles is the back-up.

Im surprised Flacco can throw vs the Jets but not the Bengals.

Houston put on a clinic was everything seemed lost.

Also that the Vikings had Peterson rush for 150 yards and still lost.

On the third of fourth drive, when it appeared Cutler would be dead or paralyzed before halftime, the Bears used nothing but one step drop quick flairs & slants to Hester & Olsen. This was the drive Olsen scored.

From that point on, Cutler wasnt touched.

Credit should really go to Martz for telling Cutler to just get rid of the ball as quickly as possible after Williams went down. Also take into account that Martz's offense has always given this team problems.

This was partially for the reason above. Wade decided to try and back guys off, but there were way too many lapses in the secondary. Alab Ball looked like a Ken Hamlin-type liability. Jenkins played his worst game since being named the starter. On Olsen's long TD, Wade sent Brooking and James on the blitz while having all the DB's about 10 yards off the ball. No one followed Olsen.

Again, they tried to counter the quick-toss the Bears were playing and subsequently got burned over the top.

A big portion of blame also goes to Wade for attempting that stupid pooch kick after Dez's TD when momentum was squarely on the Cowboys' side.

Last thought - 47 pass attempts in the first game, 51 in this game. I'm beyond fed up with Jason Garrett.issed:

i agree with all of those. But the biggest one for me was the titans losing to the steelers at home with Dixon then Batch at QB. talk about not showing up to play. I dont even think the steelers dee is anything spectacular, but those dicks sure do step it up in the absence of an offense.

what i shouldnt be surprised about is how pathetic the browns are..still. After 10 dam years you would think something would improve. But aside from 02 and 07, this team plays the same crappy brand of football every year.

This. I felt like Dallas(Ware) was getting plenty of pressure on Cutler with no blitzing involved. He was using Omiyale and Schaffer like a revolving door. Blitzes or no blitzes. Dallas sent a few more blitzes on the Olsen TD drive and got burnt on every play that drive because of the blitz because Martz adjusted to it and they never went back to it.

Dallas couldn't blitz anymore with any sort of consistancy because the Bears/Martz adjusted and when Dallas did blitz the defensive backs had no idea what the hell they were doing.

And VY shouldn't have been pulled. He was playing awful, no doubt about it, but you need to keep him in there and let him try to bring you back...don't fuck with his confidence. His play is more so on the shoulders of our awful offensive line play and the vanilla play-calling after the pick by Polamalu. He actually was throwing the ball well in the first quarter before Troy made an All-Pro play and left his receiver because VY was starting down Nate Washington. Besides, Collins came in and what did he do? Throw a pick and fumble away a ball on two of his first three drives. Tennessee just didn't come out to play (offensively, the defense was outstanding) and I credit Dick LeBeau for dialing up a great defensive gameplan as well as whoever called the KR reverse to start the game. That took a good bit of wind out of the Titans' sails.

No way. The Titans should not have had their confidence crushed by a kickoff return TD. Their opponent had Dennis Dixon at QB. Its not like the Titans thought "Oh no, we're in for a shootout today".

I'm not saying they lost confidence, but it definitely gave Pittsburgh a shift in momentum. Not to mention the fumble on the opening Titans kickoff by Mariani.

I think the play that killed the Titans was when Chris Johnson's long TD run got called back on the holding penalty. It was like the Titans offense packed it in after that.
