Bill Simmons on LeBron

as much as i love kobe i ahve to agree with lebron going down as one the greatest ever once hes done.
 
I think Kobe is a better basketball player right now. It's hard to argue that. LeBron is a much better athlete and has the potential once he grows as a player and a person to definitely be the best of all-time. Kobe though is such a skilled basketball player and has the success and titles to back it up.

When it's all said and done I think LeBron > Kobe, but right now Kobe is the better player.

I do believe LeBron will surpass Kobe with a few clutch playoff performances and rings. Kobe is one of the best I've ever seen at, what Magic Johnson calls, "winnin' time".

But physically, LeBron James is a freak. In my 40+ years of watching basketball, I've never seen someone that size do the things he does on the court.
 
Oh I agree. I'm a much bigger LeBron fan. My jaw drops everytime I see him do something on the court. He's physically the greatest athlete to ever step foot on a basketball court, no doubt about it. That video that was circulating with him shoulder height with the rim. I mean... good lord. I can't wait until he can string together a few titles.

I just think in the overall scope of better "basketball" player, Kobe is on top, but I don't think it lasts beyond this year or next.

It's nothing against either. If I'm building a team today I take LeBron because he's 25 and still has so much room for growth. I just feel that Kobe is a better player TODAY.

I know it's not going to happen, but LeBron on the Knicks would be sick. We're starved for winning basketball in NYC. We've had eight seasons of crap thanks to the clueless owner. There was a time when 50+ wins and a solid playoff run was a given. Nowadays an 8th seed with a sub-.500 record has fans jumping(sigh). LeBron would own this town like Jeter.
