How does co-op work exactly? Do you pick what mission to start on, or is there like a party leader and you just play whatever they're deciding to do?

You can set your game so you can just play by yourself, with just friends or ANYONE who has a copy of the game.

By yourself is basically single-player (and awful since you get dick for phat l00tz).

With just friends = Anyone that has the game that's just on your Friends List.

With ANYONE = Group Orgy with anyone; wear protection.

As for Mission Set-up, you basically start from your last checkpoint if YOU'RE hosting.

If someone else is hosting, you start at their last checkpoint, regardless of what level you're on.

I'm the only one who's going to witness the epic struggle between an Ultimate Badass Goliath fighting a Spiderant Knight.

It's awesomely frightening.

EDIT: Now the Goliath is a "Fatal GOD-liath".

He's only level 12 but I'm sure he's gonna do bad things to my dead body when he's done with me. :runaway:

EDIT 2: It's like kiting a giant Fake Red Hulk who quotes Chris Farley skits from SNL...

I can only imagine what he does on New Game+.

Probably eats a Battleship and shits out a fleet of Army Tanks before ripping you in half.

EDIT 3: So he blew himself up like an idiot when he Hulk Jumped into a stack of Explosive Barrels... :shifty:

No trophy for me but he did leave behind a Purple Sniper Rifle after his ashes blew away.

So that was nice... I guess. :shifty:

You basically jump into whatever mission they're working on at the time and from that point forward until you leave the session.

You keep all the Quest Rewards, Phat Lootz, Monies and XP you earn.

If you decide to go back to your save though, you go back to your last checkpoint...

So if you were in Liar's Berg and left to play with a buddy in search of the Firehawk and then left again to go back...

You're now stuck in Liar's Berg again.

...the good news is, you only have to clean up the missions you didn't do in-between the two chapters AND you have the option to redo all the ones you completed with friends for extra XP.

OR if you don't feel like it, you can skip them if the game gives you the option.

is the loot really that much better in coop?

they sure did make a great game here. still fun as fucking ever. missions have alot more variety and the world is way more alive. i still think the reward loot is kind of weak. i went through the assigniation side quest you get from the board in sanctuary

 

this is the mission where you have to go into that steam plant and kill 4 guys with a specific gun or melee. this mission was tough and fun as hell. But i felt like the rewards were pretty lame.

and when was the last time anyone bought anything other than ammo from a vending machine? the guns and mods and shit all suck from those machines

i played for 20 mins just the intro.

Joined a group of friends for the assassins quest and in 40 mins of basically hiding, dying, and respawning i went from level 1 to level 7.

I buy stuff from those machines all the time. After you buy a certain amount of stuff you get more BA points.

I'd like to take this moment to say that burst fire sniper rifles are awesome. It's a shame that you carry so little ammo, and the sniper SDUs don't seem to give much of an upgrade compared to the value you get from the other SDUs.

I just found the holy grail of transfusion grenades. I now have 1 sticky transfusion, 1 burning transfusion, & 1 electrocution transfusion grenade mod. I also just ran across a singularity grenade mod.

The loot in co-op is always better because the enemies are tougher based on how many players are in the game.

I agree about the stores though. I rarely buy anything other than ammo at them because I can always find something at least as good from bursting open an enemy.

Characters:
If you just want to shoot things, pick Salvador or Axton.

Maya is good if you want to play as Support.

Zero's odd in that he's basically Recon; he can snipe, set distractions OR point out weak spots on enemies so everyone else can deal out major damage.

If you don't want that, you can set his Skill Tree to inflict huge damage on enemies when you're cloaked and/or attacking them from the flank.

Guns:

Jacobs, Maliwan or Dahl-brand.

Shields and Grenades are personal preference.

You get some really nice loot from Michael Mamaril in the Sanctuary.

After picking something up from him, you can rinse and & repeat the process - you just need to fast travel somewhere and then head back where he'll respawn in one of ten locations around Sanctuary.

I've made a lot of money off him from items I didn't need.
