Tigers signed Victor as a Free Agent, so it's not like moving him would be a waste after he's healed up. Sox gave up Masterson for basically a year of his services before he signed with Detroit in the offseason. Basically what I'm saying is, if Miggy to 3rd doesn't work out, then moving Martinez shouldn't be hard to do and net a decent return. I think Damon is the best DH still available, the market was pretty poor for them after the Sox picked up Ortiz's option.

Yeah but Martinez will be three years older then, coming off a significant injury and can no longer play catcher. Significantly less valuable.

like this contract is gonna happer what illitch does. money has never been an issue with him. never. just like 2 years ago when buster olney said the tigers could not afford to keep miggy and that they were going to trade him to ny or boston. the contract might be bad at the backend but it will not stop illitch from spending if it means a legit shot at winning it all. thats how he has done it with the red wings up until the cap and the wings rake cash for him.

I'm not convinced at all about Miggy at third. They're going to try it but I doubt it works.

Also, I have to wonder if part of the reason Prince came to Detroit was to out do his dad. I read that when he hit 50 homers a few years ago, he said he wanted to get 52 because his dad got 51. They don't have a good relationship at all so he might be coming here to try and out perform his dad.

Oh, of course. Pujols is already showing signs of slowing down. His slowing down is better than most players primes, but there is no way he will be worth his contract in a few years. I give him half of that contract, five years, until he is really slowing down. Sad part is, there is still another 5 years after that.

Miguel Cabrera told a Venezuelan newspaper that he's moving to third base to accommodate the Detroit Tigers' newest slugger, first baseman Prince Fielder.
