:smh: Russell was hot garbage all thru college until his last couple games, he was never really amazing, def never led an entire team like this... Newton will be fine.... It really doesn't matter what kind of offense or play style he does, if he's willing to be coached he has the raw skills to be alright... funny... Cam Newton is "Not an NFL QB" But people were so sure that David Carr, Alex Smith, Jamarcus Russell, Tim Couch, Ryan Leaf, Akili Smith...al those guys were supposedly "NFL" caliber QB's coming out... do I need say more?

Wow... you gotta be fucking kidding me. I would tell you how stupid this is, but I don't feel like repeating myself anymore.

Just know that Russell was 1st team All-SEC, won the Manning Award and finished 3rd in the nation in passing efficiency.

I do like Cam's mechanics though. I don't think he's all that accurate, but his wind up looks better than guys like VY and Pat White. The biggest question is going to be make-up, IMO.

He also once referred to his JUCO stint as a "365 day business trip" which tells me that he's got his priorities out of whack.

His priority should be to play in the NFL. It seems to me he has his priorities perfectly in line.

The kid transferred to another school to get his head on straight and to get back into big time football and achieve a series of goals. Newton dedicating himself to a goal and approaching his time at Blinn with a business like attitude in order to get to where he wanted to go I think is a good thing and a sign of maturity. Not sure how or why that would raise questions about him having priorities out of whack?

More like he was facing expulsion because he was on strike 4 and didn't want it to become public. He cited "playing time" as the reason, even though he would've been the starter at Florida in the same amount of time that it took him to make it to Auburn. He would've waited to be the successor to Tebow at Florida had he not been caught breaking the law and the honor code multiple times.


As for the "business trip" quote, in light of news that his father embezzled $200,000 through his church based on the results of that "business trip", don't you think that's a poor choice of words?

Yeah it was, in hindsight though it was truer than he intended.

Bottom line, the kid has red flags. Any NFL scout worth his salt is going to raise these flags.

Im not comparing him to Tebow, but most of us thought Tim Tebow didnt stand a chance in hell being drafted before the 3rd round. I can see a team taking a flyer on Cam early as well.
