First Game, First Win
at
Minnesota Golden Gophers (0-0) at Syracuse Orange (0-0)
Woy's Word
What an incredible rush I felt when I ran out of the tunnel with the team. Delone told me that he's never seen so many fans at a Syracuse home game before. It was like a sea of orange flooded inside the dome, a beautiful sight.
Anyways, back to the game. We won the coin toss and after the kickoff, I jogged onto the field for the first time as a member of the Orange. I looked out into the crowd and saw numerous number 15 jerseys on the fans, including a whole section of girls sporting my name. Kind of nice, if you ask me. The first play though brought me into reality though.

"Greg Paulus is under center for the first time in his collegiate career. He motions Williams...and takes the snap. He's in the drop, looks right, fires...and it's picked off by Traye Simmons! He's to the 20, the 10...touchdown Minnesota. What a horrible impression by Paulus on the first play, and the Golden Gophers are up, 6-0."

Needless to say, I was pretty pissed and was going to let it known. I angrily unstrapped my helmet and was ready to chuck it into the Gatorade cooler when Delone stopped me. He reminded me that we still had all four quarters to play, so I shouldn't let one little play blow up the team.
Later in the first quarter, I got open on a slant route and Paulus hit me, picking up 12 and a first down on my first career catch. That drive continued to look promising as we moved the ball downfield before Delone took a handoff into the endzone to tie it up.
Eventually in the third quarter, I made my first mark on the Syracuse faithful. We were down 17-10, and it was third down. Simmons was matched up on me again, as Paulus called a play-action pass in which I would run a fade route - my favorite.

"Paulus takes the snap, fakes the handoff to Carter and looks right. He fires it to the freshman Woy...it's caught! He's to the 10, and is in! Touchdown Syracuse! The first of hopefully many by the impact freshman!"
...
The crowd erupted louder than a jet plane taking off it seemed once I scored. Mark it in the record books, a 23 yard catch was my first touchdown. Much to some of my team's displeasure, I did an un-Ethan Woy thing, and handed the ball back to the ref after scoring. Coach Marrone was pleased, but Delone gave me some hell for it - all in good fun though.
Late in the game, I helped the team move the ball downfield with some clutch catches, which ended up in two field goals. Adam Weber and Minnesota couldn't get any offense going in the fourth quarter, and when the horn sounded, it would show that I won the first game of my career. Hopefully it would be the first of many in Syracuse blue and orange.
Syracuse 23
Minnesota 17
7 catches, 99 yards, 1 TD
Author's Note: I was going to use Kyhadley's logos, but it would be easier to use ignncaalogos off of Photobucket, since I'm posting this there too, lol. Also, if I didn't mention it before, I'm playing seven minute quarters on Heisman difficulty. No slider changes.
