CFB Championship: #2 Oregon @ #4 Ohio State

The first college football national champion will be crowned under the new playoff format tonight in Dallas. Oregon is shooting for their first national championship and Ohio State is going for their 5th but it would be the first there for Urban Meyer.

Who wins the game?

I used the tried & true "eeny, meeny, miney, mo" method & came up w/the Ugh St U. Luckeyes 38, Quacks 27.

I want to take Oregon and the PAC12, but I have these two teams so evenly matched I have a feeling we about to watch an instant classic. It will come down to special teams.

I think Oregon is better, I think they should win, and it shouldn't be too close... but it's very hard to go against Urban Meyer in this game.

Mariota looking good so far, but Oregon was lucky to avoid two turnovers on the opening drive.

Two scores later by OSU, and it's 14-7 Buckeyes, I did not expect to see them up this early.

There has been some horrible defensive and offensive play calling by Oregon and Urban Meyers is out coaching the hell out of Oregon. Very lucky this is not a blowout yet.

Oregon needs to make some serious adjustments in the second half on both sides of the ball.

Oregon has some dropped passes to blame, but OSU didn't convert on some of those and I think the game should have a higher point differential at this point. I think Oregon can make the necessary adjustments and get back into this game, but they also have to have their defense stop OSU and force some 3-and-outs. These long drives are killing Oregon's offensive tempo.

OSU has only themselves to blame for letting Oregon back in it. They've turned the ball over four times to the Ducks' zero.

Also, they can't bring down Elliott no matter the play. He's feasting and Oregon can do nothing about it. Those big guys in the trenches are also dominating.

IMO, college football should go the whole nine yards and have a 16-team playoff. It is nice to see a National Championship truly be a national championship.

Agreed, I think expansion will come sooner rather than later, especially after OSU winning and then TCU being shut out from the four-team race.

I also don't put it past OSU to repeat next year, they are an extremely young team.

I think eight teams would be enough, going 9-16 would likely dilute the talent pool a bit. If you run eight teams, that leaves your Power 5 champions, the highest ranking team from the smaller conferences (would have been Boise State this year) plus two "At Large" who would be committee choices.

After that, all the committee has to do is decide the rankings and start the games.

Gotta give credit to OSU. They physically dominated oregon. Ducks could not and didn't want to tackle Elliot and that counter play ate them up all night.

On the other side Bosa was unblockable, Washington looked good as we as 1 or 2 OSU lbs.

Oregon could never get into a rhythm and they were never able to establish the run but all their passing plays are out of playaction.

Outcoached and outplayed. Props to urban Meyer and the Buckeyes.

Oregon's DL got absolutely dominated, my god. Their nose tackle was getting flushed out of the hole on every down.

Hell of a job by Ohio State, their physicality was fun to see and hopefully puts to bed the perceptions that the spread is a "finesse" offense.

That kid Bosa has superstar written all over him. I Only watched OSU twice this year but he was a manchild in both games.

And he's only a sophomore? Wonder if he goes pro.
