I'll assume the same behind the reasoning Manti is a mormon. There is no precedent for concussion syndrome leading to becoming a murderous asshat and I highly doubt that is the case here.

Not saying the absolute reason this happened is because Belcher's brain was fucked up from years of playing football. But, I would assume the coroner will do an autopsy to find out what was in his system and it's only natural to check what state the brain was in.

For all we know, the relationship between Belcher and the GF was volatile and it blew up on this particular day because of 'X'. Also, could be any number of other things. But, in 2012 when an NFL player commits an act like this, of course brain health will be a significant storyline until proven otherwise.
