I can only speak for people that I know in Philly, but at this point there is so much anger towards the current management, many refuse to go.
In fairness too, it's never fun to watch a crummy team live. Especially if the tickets aren't free.
I hesitate to get into a fanbase argument, but I don't think that either is hopeless. The Phillies are a bad team, and from why would anyone ever want to go to a fucking baseball game in Atlanta in the dead of summer?
I think we can conclude that there are a variety of factors that contribute to attendance figures for live sporting events, and not all of them can be explained with "bad sports town" or "good sports town" ...
