But of his 4 losses, two of them were on the road against play-off teams and decided by less than 7 points (and both came down to San Francisco having a chance at the end but not capitalizing); one was his first week as a coach, when he was forced into duty right away (basically an impossible scenario); and the final one against Dallas was bad, but the Cowboys were one week removed from their bye week and were at home.
And when San Fran was playing for nothing, they still beat the Jets, Bills, and Redskins who were all playing for a play-off spot at the time.
I'm not saying he's an elite coach right now (although I honestly think he very well could be when it's all said and done)... what I'm saying is it's definitely fair to put him at #14. He took a horrible team and made them average contenders in 9 weeks. I really think San Francisco will be on the map this season and could make some noise.
