I never said this was the smartest group of guys, especially because even if you put modernwarfare2.com in, it will redirect you to modernwarfare2.infintyward.com, so that wouldn't even be the right domain name, it will just be more of a bitch for ppl to type in

It was a law made a while back because people would find out about a movie, game, or event and buy the URL. Then they would basically contact the company with outrageous demands for the website. Same thing happened to WWE when people rushed out and bought sites like RoyalRumble.com or WrestleMania.com.

Basically, the law said that anyone can register a name, but if it is copyrighted material, you can have it taken away from you. So if I run out and made RoyalRumble.com before the WWE could, I would get it taken away because they have the copyright on the name.
 
yeah its illegal, they have no purpose of having the domain and its copyrighted. I sell domains, so u have to be careful of which domains to get, they can get sued.

It's called cyber squatting. Tons of celebrities were getting taken advantage of as well when they tried to go and register their own name as a domain when the Internet was starting to take off as a commercial entity.
 
Warren Sapp was one guy who ended up having to deal with this stuff. The guys were asking for ridiculous amounts of money from him.
