CPU Comeback BS

this is on the verge of ruining this game for me. I played my first game just messing around and subbed a started instead of a reliever in the 7th. The cpu goes wild as soon as i put the new pitcher in after i had shut them down all day. I wouldve lost that game anyway but it seemed in the 7th-9th the cpu could just get hits at will. This was with CPU comeback on.



2nd game CPU comeback off
im using the Indians and i had signed Pedro from FA. The Royals only have 3 hits and 1 run scored on Pedro in 7 full innings of work, hes just dominating. I put in my setup man in the 8th and he knocks them down 1,2,3. I put Kerry Wood in to close and i cant get a strike called to save my life im throwing right down the middle with my accuracy great and it still goes out of the zone. Then the cpu torches Kerry Wood who was fully warmed up for 3 runs and 5 hits on the first 5 batters i face I thought this was supposed to be CPU comeback code off???? I know, i know comebacks happen in real life but why in 2 games played so far its the same story i dominate for the first six or seven innings and then the CPU turns into 9 Reggie Jacksons in the last two innings?

oh it gets better i only had one out when i typed that after 3 hits in 8 innings, the freaking Royals hit 10 times for 8 runs in the 9th. I love this game.

I really don't know what else to tell you.

now that i think about it, i played the Nashville SOunds the first game and they all became Superman at the plate in the last 2 innings.



Im demoralized that i suck so bad.

I then did the research and most forums confirmed that when you have the CPU comeback off it's actually on and vice versa. I was so demoralized I haven't picked the game up in a few days.

Look im perfectly willing to accept that i suck at this game i just dont get how i can be so good for the first seven innings and then blow so bad the last two every time.

My guess is that an update they put in to try and fix the CPU comeback (the fact that on means off and off means on) has seriously fucked it up because I never experienced the problem, but I haven't played the game in the last month.

I would try deleting the updates for The Show off your PS3 and see if that fixes the problem.

i don't even wanna talk about this bullshit i was up 4-0 in a AAA game in my chise and i had a no hitter going. the CPU comes in and hits like 3 balls right down the line for doubles and by the time i know it their up 6-4

ok im less irritated now to know this happens to everyone on here as well. Im not a huge baseball guy but this game is so fun i was going to do an offline chise. I guess i'll wait until another patch comes out.

Herm if this only affects offline franchises, try the RTTS mode, the mode is fun as hell. One tip, turn off baserunning events, because your created player sux in the beginning as a baserunner, and that will really kick your ass in this game. Also the baserunning controls are retarded.

Went to the threads at OS and it seems as though perhaps the Comeback code doesn't exist. Russel from SCEA tested it a lot in the main thread and said there was no code, a lot of other guys got resutls showing no code.

hey i can accept the fact that i suck if thats the case, ive just never played a sports game where i can be so good for 75% of the game and then the last 25% it seems like nothing ive done works anymore.

FT CPu comeback is an option in the sliders, so i dont know Russell would say it doesnt exist. You can set CPU comeback to on or off but alot of guys report the CPU comes back more if you set it to off than if you set CPU comeback to on.

You misunderstood what I was saying. Obviously the comeback is an option but people are complaing about a combeack code/glitch that no matter what you have it set to the CPU will comeback. Russell tested and denied the glitch/code exists. Others have tested and confirmed Russell's findings as well.

I might do that. To be honest it ruined my chise I was really into. Up 6-0 on the Nats and then all of a sudden they crush 6 home runs, then take the lead then I score 4 runs in the 9th only to have them match me with two outs.

CPU comeback bs kills all sports games. I remember playing Madden and Michael Vick scampered 99 yards with time expiring in the half to tie the game. Now in the show the cpu always matches your run total in the very next inning.

Madden will soon drop and I personally will no longer give a shit about any games, even something as great as the show.

I'm anxious to see if krul saw any difference when turning it on.

Well, I can't say that it worked or if it didn't. I told you at the top of the 4th that I decided to turn the option "ON" when it was tied 2-2 (after I scored 2 runs on a 2-run shot at the top of the 1st) and then the CPU came back and scored 2 runs in the 2nd inning to tie it back up. Anyways, after turning it on at the top of the 4th, there were no more runs scored until the 10th inning...it was a defensive battle until then. At the top of the 10th, I hit a solo shot, brought in my closer at the bottom of the 10th, they bring in a pinch-hitter for there pitcher...what happens, he hits a homerun deep to left field that just barely went over the wall, hitting the foul pole in the process. Games tied up 3-3. After that, I got the next 3 batters out with ease.

Then at the bottom of the 11th, just brought in a new reliever, his second pitch of the night, hit to deep right field, just got over the wall for the walkoff win for the CPU.

So I guess after typing it and relieving it, it does sound like there was some work of The Show Gods at work. I'm not quite sure what to say anymore, I really enjoy the game but it would be nice to have a 8-2 win every once in awhile and not the constant 1 run victory.

I'll continue later on tonight to try my Chise games with Comeback AI "ON" and see if this was just one game or what not.
