All the great 205ers were in Pride during Chuck's reign in the UFC. You see what happened when he fought in Pride and when the Pride guys came to the UFC.
This argument was settled long ago.
Although he has double digit losses, he has huge wins including multiple title runs and is the most beloved fighter of all-time.
Nobody says he's the best of all-time, but considering the whole package, he's one of the most key figures in the sports history.
Hendo wasnt as charismatic as Randy. Randys age and dramatic fashion made those fights huge.
Randys name was much bugger but Hendo has never really been out of elite status.
And frankly nothing on Randys highlight reel tops this....nothing says mount Rushmore and Captain America better than knocking the shit out of a stupid Brit.
Even Chuck wouldnt be up there, he fought in a weak LHW division, of the best were in Pride, Shogun had a better career than Chuck
can you ever talk like a real fan and not a guy who starting watching because of TUF?
Who gives a hoot when someone started watching. You like to throw that card around meanwhile theres noone more biased than you are.
who gives a shit about casual fan mainstream impact or whatever you want to call it, we're talking about the greats in the sport
Chuck was never even the number 1 in his division, not even close to number 1 fighter in the world
Royce was the number 1 fighter in the sport for years, Shogun was a top P4P fighter in the sport, and now is still number 1 in his division
Royce, Sakuraba, Shogun, Fedor, And1, GSP, Hughes > Chuck and Randy
Hendo > Randy easily
Kimbo Slice had a greater 'impact' than the majority of MMA fighters, so just stop with the casual fan, mainstream, BS and talk like a fan of the sport
Im pretty sure Mount Rushmore presidents were chosen based on popularity and helping the growth and expansion of the U.S. So the point about Randy are more than valid.
Even with that if your going mount "rushmore" is there a cut off ? Isnt it more of a "forefathers" argument ? GSP/Shogun seem out of place on that list.
Where is Matt Whoghes in all of this? I am sure Hendo #1, but who is #2. Captain American or Matt Hughes?
Hendo fought in two weight classes and has a stupid resume.
Hughes dominated a division.
Id give it to Hendo but I can see the argument for Hughes.
Royce , Fedor , are locks.
Shamrock, Rutten , Ortiz, Liddell , Hendo , Sakuraba , Wandy , Hughes ,Randy.
Off the top of my head all those guys started in the 90s making them still part of that old guard.
Which two had the best combination of success/impact/fame ?
