Game recap:
A four turnover differential usually tells the tale of a game and this one was no exception.
The Eagles were essentially demoralized all game long. Coach Dave needs to get his team on the field more often. Playing two or three times a week not good practice. At times, coach Dave wonders if being reporter Dave after the game is such a good thing because of the time involved.
Scouting report on OOB:
Keep in mind, this guy uses a lot of different teams, so this scouting report is essentially a scouting report on how OOB used the Raiders. I simply can't guarantee he'd use other teams the same way.
A) Like Izzy and a few others, it's obvious he's playing this game to death and knows its ins and outs already. You have to keep that in mind.
B) Everything with the Raiders was short passing. Only two passes over 10 yards (yes, I counted). The Eagles were simply unable to stop the short pass game - as the player stats will show - and were deathly afraid of McFadden's speed.
C) Used his tight end a lot in this first half, probably worried old Dave was gonna flame him for it and essentially stopped using him in the second half ... or the coverage improved (unlikely)
D) All his drives were long and playcalling methodical. He wanted to play 5-min quarters at first - I declined and told him 6. Frankly, playing a guy like this, you need 8 minute quarters. He's not a big audible guy at the line, but takes a long time to call offensive plays. I'm guessing he likes substitutions - which are painful clock killers.
E) Hitsticks very effectively. You must cover up the ball anytime you have it.
F) Forgot to assign #21 to my best WR in this game in defensive matchups, which surprised me.
G) On defence, he mixes his plays and, like I said, is deadly with the hit stick.
In closing, I don't consider OOB an elite player, but he's above average no doubt. I had a hard time gauging his play, because I was too busy turning the damn ball over.
