To blame Dodge is to ignore the fact that nobody came close to tackling Jackson, and he ran straight up the middle. 5 guys ran to the right, and 5 guys ran to the left ... I can see if Jackson made someone miss, but all he did was drop the ball, stand up, and make one cut up field. He ran straight up the middle and only had the punter to beat.

Dodge fucked up, but the coverage unit should be more disciplined.

And ignore the failure of Coughlin to recognize the situation his team is in and just be content its going to overtime. His job is to make the decisions that will best allow his players to win the game, he didn't do that.

Even if you put the blame completely on the last play (which only an idiot would do), Dodge punted a ball that has been punted by people in the NFL 1000's of times. Even then, the returner dropped the ball basically negating the line drive aspect of the punt since it had the same time to start the return as a high punt. At that point, it is up to the coverage team to make the tackle. Dodge is part of that coverage team, but so are 10 other guys. Every one of them should have been able to make a play to either tackle Jackson or make it more difficult for him to walk up the field for the TD.

I'm not here to argue about the other 10 no names on the New York Giants ST. Dodge fucked up and deserves to be put on blast. While he didn't, by any means, blow the game for the Giants, he is definitely one of the major reasons they weren't able to take it to Overtime.

Doesn't matter. The entirety of the New York Giants squad was expecting that ball to be kicked of out bounds, like 95% of America [who was watching] was expecting. A very routine play to make for a punter, no way you can gift-wrap it.

Dodge hasn't been able to kick the ball out of bounds all year though......that he didn't do it in that situation surprises no one......and it definitely wasn't news to Coughlin because he's been unhappy with the guy all year because of terrible kicking.....all he does his kick line drives with no hang time and he can't directional kick at all, as the world all saw......I think Dodge has had two good punts all season.....but the Giants painted themselves into a corner by making the decision to ride with the rookie and it finally came back to bite them in the ass

Like I said before, plenty of blame to go around, it's just that Dodge's play was the icing

You're right, Coughlin had the time to think that it would be best to run out the clock, Dodge had to make a split second decision after a high snap. Good point, Coughlin definitely is much more to blame than Dodge.

Those who put the loss on Dodge's shoulders know absolutely nothing about football and/or didn't watch the game.

The biggest play of the implosion was the Celek catch. 7:30 left up 21 points, all you have to do is make that drive last any amount of time greater than a minute long and we win that game. Instead you let him score them score in 10 seconds. Have them catch you off-guard with an on-side kick with 7 minutes left when if there was 5-minutes left you probably have your whole hands team out there just in case.

Now why the fuck is Justin Tuck covering anyone 30 yards down field? Why doesn't Kenny Phillips interrupt that bobbled catch or at least tackle Celek?


Then, Aaron Ross coming inside on the 3rd and 10 blitz that breaks containment and allow Vick to run outside 40 yards down the field.


I don't get Nahste blaming the blitz calls when that is what worked the whole game and exactly what we needed to do in the 4th. When we played pussy 3 man rush (Tuck covering Celek) then Vick beats us when he has all time to throw it or run it for 25+ yards when the rest of the defense is 30 yards away from the line of scrimmage. Blitzing works, if Deon Grant can make a fucking tackle or Ross does his job properly than Vick doesn't run for another 30 yards.


Offense did their job yesterday. Defense didn't. Simple as that.


EDIT: I didn't see the game on TV and I refuse to watch highlights but they showed the punt return on Miked Up on YES network and there was a block in the back on Chase. Nonetheless, I'm not crying about it, just something I saw.

I just thought it was going to the well too many times. Law of averages. You blitz Vick that many times , you are bound to get exposed once he breaks contain. Not to mention Maclin being left on a island with a corner in the red zone. Sure it was working at first, but if you are making it that obvious that you are sending the house on every play, and it's that repetitive, eventually it's going to tax your DBs.

It was just a very questionable decision in my opinion to not switch things up even a little bit. It was like playing a cheeser in NCAA or Madden online who calls the same 3 defensive plays all game and fails to adjust once you have accounted for his tendencies.

Holy shit. How did I forget the false start penalty. That changed a 2nd and 6 on a drive that we were doing great moving the ball to a 2nd and 11 which led to a 3rd and 11 and later the punt. If that false start doesn't happen we probably get a first down and win the game.


If out of the eight or so miracle things go the other way, we probably win that game.



Also, it special teams coach Tom Quinn needs to be fired after this season. Coverage has been terrible all season to the point that many fans have been asking themselves, when are STs going to lose us a game? Well they're it was. He needs to be gone.

Was in a sports bar during this game, of course the entire place was cheering because of the Vick/Jackson combo, completely disregarding the fact that Desean Jackson is a tool. I think I was the only one who didn't scream "That's muh nigga DJ".
