Man this game is insane. I love it, but it's crazy how easy it is to stumble upon someone twice or even thrice as powerful as you are. The red knight on 1-1 being one example.
I actually haven't died THAT much (5 times and I'm on 2-1, I think?), but the game is beyond stressful for me, as I know that dying can potentially mean so serious ass-fucking. Can't wait to get to the point that you're at KG. Still, the game seriously rewards the patient and skillful player, which is great in today's atmosphere of games.
KG and Maynard, what are you PSN names?

i am still pretty confused by the soul mode vs alive mode. What the difference other then not having full health?
i dont really know how to join others games but i think i selected the wrong thing with the square button and it summoned for help. I just said no when they person tried comign in the help
i also dont understand the pure white vs black tendancy. From what i read you can get things in pure white that you wont see in black or neutral.
does this game purposly make it harder to go thru a level after you get killed on that level?
game is seriously deep and i feel very lost
When you are a soul you can get summoned into other people's games (either to help them or kill them). You also are 'quieter' so sneaking up on Crystal Lizards is much easier. They drop rare items and if you miss out on killing them, they won't be back until you start a whole new game so it's wise to go after them as a soul (and wear your thief ring...)
When you are alive you have full health and can summon people into your game to help you. When you die in alive form the World you are in shifts more to Black. Being alive is important because some (almost all) bosses you definitely need help with.
When it comes to WT it's like this. The "Blacker" the world is, the tougher the enemies become. More life, more strength, less life for you, etc. Item drops are also tied to this as you'll see more items when it's Black. You also gain more souls in a Black world because it's tougher.
If you push a world fully black or white (pure white/pure black) additional things open up, side bosses and such will appear.
For example in 1-1. If you make the world all black, that gate at the VERY START on the left becomes open. There's a ridiculously tough boss in there, as well as a badass set of armor (which you can see if we play together

)
So basically the tendencies allow you access side bosses, items and such that aren't normally there.
You can google up the guide to making a world all black and then all white. It'll take you like an hour and you need a few items to do it, but I did it for the first world and it paid off nicely for me, although armor doesn't make all that much of a difference in this game I find.
The whole Tendency thing is deep, time consuming but ultimately worth it if you want more bosses and the best equipment out there.
Everytime you die in alive form on a level, that place gets blacker so that might be why a place got tougher for you. Dying 7 straight times in alive form in a level will make it 100% black.
Agreed. The only thing I get at this point is how to fight and how to pray that I don't die. And yeah, that soul mode = less health. KG, care to specify what other shit means?
I also feel very lost in many ways. I love the game, but I'm so overwhelmed by everything, and what makes that feeling even worse is the fact that I feel like I'm making the wrong decisions with my soul points now when I upgrade my character/buy shit. I feel like I'm missing something very important that's going to bite me in the ass and force me to redo the whole first level, etc...
I wouldn't sweat making bad decisions. There's guides out there to how to do a 'perfect run' so you can experience every last corner of the game in one run, but I'm saving that for my 2nd playthrough and just living and dying with the choices I make right now.
I'm glad the store only had Collector's Editions (10 xtra bucks and came with the 150 page game guide) cause it's provided me with all that I know and helped greatly.
I'm hoppin on shortly if you guys wanna play, but since there's no in-game chat we'd have to use 360's if you guys have them.
