this game is starting to really annoy me. The game is great...its fucking awesome except for 2 things.
1- its way too fucking hard
2- you get killed and lose the one thing that matters the most, the souls.

I could deal with #1 if i didnt lose all my souls everytime. But i usually die trying to get back to where i died to take the souls back, but then i die again and lose them forever. Its so fucking annoying cause all that effort to get to the end of a level and then it was all for nothing and u have to do it all over again. I cant level up because of this.

I understand their thinking behind this concept, but i dont like it and its not fun to play like this

its so fucking unbelievably awesome. Graphics, gameplay...the sheer depth in the RPG side of the game. The charecters and NPC's...the online intergration....all of it is just so so good.

There isnt much of a story, but enough to make you understand.....and as previously mentioned the difficulty with no option to adjust is troubling.

Its not that the guys you face are not beatable. But you spend 2 hours on a level and in a split second some dickhead fucks you up and your dead. So all the souls are lost...unless you make it back to where you died to collect them before you die again. But shit man, you just spent 2 hrs getting to that point and now have to do it all over again. Meaning kill all the same guys and hope you make it back to collect the souls.

Leveing up isnt easy. It costs more souls everytime so when you lose those souls in the game you are even more pissed because now you cant make your player level up so he is stronger.

i wont post how i got killed on 3-1 cause i dont want to spoil it. But its not like i got cheesed. I got surprised and didnt retreat. I wasnt thinking....and thats usually what gets me dead

indeed. it's such a thick game.

it's like, a fantasy setting with real world rules.


there's like pitfalls and tight walkways, misstep and you fall and die.

a solid axe to your back is gonna be hella hard and probably kill you.

combat requires patience, swing, block, pause, block, swing. like you really gotta take it step by step to ensure you don't get dinged.

i love the challenge tho...just want to beat it so bad even though of the difficulty.

this fucker that got me on 3-1 did exactly that.

the enemies continue to blow my mind. They look awesome

so i finally succeeded in 3-1...YAY. and it didnt even involve beat the boss. I was just interested in getting sage freke out of there. The prick cost me like 45000 souls in the process but i got him out.

He has some kick ass magic. The warding spell is killer. It unleashes green glowing force field around my guy for protection. I also got the firespray spell which is allows you to shoot fireballs continuously

finally got a chance to play this again, been busy as hell.

ended up sucking for the first couple hours, died and recovered my souls like 3 times over, then ended up getting fucked up by a upper level black phantom in the end. was about to flip my shit but tried one last time...

...and ended up beating Flamelurker, Old Dragon and Doll bitchface or whatever her name is.

Got myself up to level 60 in the process and two new spells, warding and soul ray.



Had a go at Old Hero but he's just way too fuckin tough. Two phantoms helping me got fucked up quickly so i teleported back to the Nexus.

Gonna explore 3-2 and 5-2 next time I'm a phantom...haven't even seen those levels yet. Maybe even 1-3, that's open now that I killed the Archdemon.

sad to say that i sold this game on ebay for 46 bucks. Not sad about the sale, but that i wont be playing this anymore.

i got frustrated with the difficulty of the game and just had enough. Its disappointing because the game is so awesome otherwise

That made my decision easy. If someone like you, who was loving the game, still got rid of it, then I know I'll be exchanging it. With so many games I don't have times for a game that repeatedly kicks you in the nuts. No matter how awesome it is.

I've been playing off and on since I got it...and I agree with Maynard...the game is awesome, I love playing it, but the difficulty is just so absurd that it kinda ruins it for me at the same time. I wouldn't have nearly as much an issue with the difficulty if you didn't spend 30mins-1hr or more getting to the boss of an area, get raped because you don't know their patterns or anything yet, or get raped by a black phantom, end up losing all your progress and have to do it all over again.

Having said all that, not going to trade it in or anything...I still enjoy it until I die and my progress gets wiped out, so I'll continue to dabble with it from time to time but I doubt I'll ever get as far into it as killgod is...

great post...couldnt agree more. if you kept the souls you earned, or had a selling system to earn more souls then the difficulty wouldnt be an issue because you could still level up and make your guy strong enough to beat the enemies

I'm playing it, but if anyone wants to trade it for Dragon Age after they are done with it, that would be a best of both worlds for both people.

LOL. That is definitely another HUGE reason I'll exchange this game.

I just don't understand why some developers insist on making games excrutiatingly difficult. It's one thing to be a challenge but everything I've heard about this game just says that it's mind numbingly difficult.

I was discussing this game with my cousin last night while playing Borderlands and he said that he owns several Atlus games and they are all ridiculously hard.

At least have multiple difficulty options.

i agree with you 100% wolo. its not that the game cheats you in anyway. Its not that its unplayably hard. but you end up getting to the end of an area that just took you 2 hrs to complete and get killed only to have to do it all over again. That is the only reason why i stopped playing.....it just got frustrating to have that happen so many times.

I might be proven wrong soon, but the game's not that hard. I think people are spoiled by games nowadays. I'm not that far into it (got through 1-1, 1-2, 2-1 and most of 4-1). I've died plenty of times, but they were totally my fault. Don't feel cheated when I die like have the games I play. So far, its a great game that makes you plan your attack rather than run-and-gun.

(At this point) beating it won't be the accomplishment, getting platinum will. The time commitment looks insane. Most likely 4 playthoughs to get everything you need. And each playthrough gets more difficult.

Too bad no one here's playing it...I'd love to co-op!

I've been busy lately to play, it's been a week...but I still play it. I'm like level 60 or so, so you'd need to be close to that for us to co-op.

I've finished 1-1, 1-2, All of World 2, 3-1, 4-1, 5-1. I might have done 5-2 as well, I can't recall.

Boss of 4-2 is beyond impossible IMO. lol.



I should be around to play on the weekend if you are close enough to me so I can help you do stuff..

I'm with Maynard on this...I don't think the game is overly difficult, although some of the bosses are a PITA, my problem with the game is what he said about going through an hour long level, having thousands of souls, only to end up dying - whether it was your fault or a flukey thing, whatever - and have to do the whole thing over again just to get your souls back.

I thoroughly enjoy playing the game, I just don't have the time right now with all that is going on in my life along with the other quality games out or coming out, to sit down and play the same level three or four times from start to finish, especially when it takes an hour+ to finish that level...
