DiCaprio to star in The Great Gatsby

I'm sorry but FUCK THE BOOK. My god I wanted to shoot myself after reading that crap. Maybe I am being biased right now because when I was reading it, it was during a time when every class I was in was reading books on the "high society" type and I got sick of it, but I just could not for the life of me get into the book, and even to this day I can not tell you at all what the book was about, or really remember anything about it. Maybe I'll read it again and give it another chance, but I just can not stand some of it.

On the movie side, it does look really well shot, but my only thing is, does anyone else see Leo getting kind of "the same". I watched J. Edger a couple weeks ago, and I don't know, maybe I just have that performance still in my head and find it very similar.
 
You could read The Great Gatsby in a few hours. Easy read for sure.

I read it in high school and I didn't care for it and then I took a class on Fitzgerald and Hemingway and we started with it and I fell in love. You definitely should give it a second chance, Ravin.
 
Book is tremendous, one of the finest pieces of American writing. Robert Redford version is the only film I acknowledge. Hope this proves me wrong, but doubtful.

edit- hate the casting choice of Nick Carraway, and I have no idea what society's fascination is with that lass Carrie Mulligan. She does not do it for me.
 
I didn't like this director's style in "Romeo +Juliet" and I've gotta say, this looks even worse considering the understated fashion the story was told in the book as opposed to this over stylized version. This will not mesh well
 
Just finished the book last night. Glad I read it, but more specifically I'm glad I was never forced to read it in high school because I know I would have hated it back then. That book has no business being read by most 16 year olds.
