Did MW2 live up to the hype?

I was #2 who put no. Not because I don't like it, but more because it didn't live up to my own personal hype. It's a great game, but I am honestly enjoying Dragon Age more. So throw me into that crazy person category. Plus I'm not a huge multiplayer gamer (although I loved COD4 on PC), so that might play a factor.

I played the shit out of 4, didn't buy and didn't even play W@W more than a couple times.

This game is the shit. Exactly what I wanted.

I love this game but dont act like many of the maps arent very similar to COD4 maps.

example? Other than large and small size, i dont see anything that is similar. i mean there is only so much you can do with maps. I think they did a great job making these maps each feel unique in this game.

you have afgan with a huge ridge and a cave planted right in the middle of everything. Then you have a big map like wasteland that is flat all over, but with long site lines and is again all sperated by a trench/tunnel smack dab in the middle.
Terminal which is smaller and has a cqc fighting aspect that is amazing. The battles are intense.
favela with its rolling landscape of shacks that allow fighting up high and down low
highrise with its sniper lines and cqc combat areas around the helicoptor pad.

i could talk about each of them....your not the first person i heard say they thought the maps were the same as past games. i dont agree, but i also dont know why people think that

Maps aren't even close to being like 4 IMO...I'd like to hear why you think that too Herm.

A couple of the maps are slightly similar...Estate is the big one as to me it is alot like Creek (without the Creek), and Wasteland is a bit similar to Overgrown, but other than that...I don't really see it. There was nothing like Favela or Karachi in 4.

The big difference is that there is alot more angles where you can take fire from on just about every map. In 4, even on the urban maps, you usually only had 1-2 directions where you'd get shot at at a given time. In MW2, you take fire from every direction. It's insane. In a good way.

To me the style of maps in MW2 is like Chinatown in 4. But Chinatown was one map and rather unique as far as the COD4 maps went...

This, and also it just doesn't seem like much was changed period. I feel like I'm playing CoD4.5. Don't get me wrong but with all the hype this game had I was expecting Earth shattering shit. This game is very good nut not jizz inducing like it is for most people.

I'd be willing to bet that the same people that thing is the greatest game ever made are the people that played CoD4 religiously for two years. I honestly don't know how they did it.

i think they really tailored to the "hardcore" this time around. this game is so unforgiving. this is not a pick up and play type game, you really need to get into it and play a lot or your going to struggle. at first i was really frustrated , i consider myself a good player but i was getting smoked non stop. you really need to take your time and plan stuff out, running and gunning will get you killed immediately. i have come around a bit though after learning the maps and finding guns i like. one thing i do not like is having to unlock guns. i can live without having certain perks but i would of liked to of had all the guns available from the beginning.

Same thing to you as we said to Herm. Explain how the maps are the same as COD4.

For you I can understand because you didn't play COD4 as religiously as we did so maybe the maps look the same to a novice, but no way. They are a lot different than the COD4 maps.

There are definitely differences, no doubt about it. It's hard to put my finger on it but it's like a feeling of deja vu when playing most of the maps.

I'd have to be playing the games simultaneously to point out the similarities and it also doesn't help that I can't remember any of the damn map names from either game.
