EA Lowers 2010 Outlook

It sucks when they make good games that no one buy (Dead Space:Extraction), and yest people buy Madden year after year.

Consumers of Madden/NCAA/etc... are talking and EA clearly is not listening. Perhaps if shareholders saw message boards like VSN/NCAA Strategies/OS bashing EA to pieces they wouldn't be surprised that EA doesn't know squat. Just sayin'

The problem is people keep buying the stupid game. Why people do it I have no idea.

I still have yet to buy madden (this year) and I'm only looking for a used copy at this point. I'm probably never buying a new copy of madden till it stops sucking.

Here is another very simple reason. The price of video games has gone up. Here in Canada it is $69.99 for a new game, which I think is insane. It use to be $59.99 and it would come to under $65. Now you are looking at $75 for a new game. That to me has put a hole in things. Because honestly, for $75, the game better be damn well amazing. It is why I put off buying AC2 and madden so far. EVen EB games "used" copies at $64.99.

Now you are looking at $75 for a new game. That to me has put a hole in things. Because honestly, for $75, the game better be damn well amazing. It is why I put off buying AC2 and madden so far. EVen EB games "used" copies at $64.99.

AC2 is well worth the price of admission.

AC2 @ $39.99 would be reasonable to me. It still only took me 20 hours to beat the game and then I returned it to the game store. Good luck selling me DLC when I'm not going to rerent it to play 5 more hours at the most for more game play.

I would say games like MW2 and things with massive replayability like Dragon Age and hell even sports games are worth the $70 price tag right now.

The xbox is pretty much as close to a PC as your going to get and when they say porting something to the PS3 (which the orange box ended up being a piece of shit on it) then they mean it.

The L4D series can kiss my ass but I fully blame its failures on everything being consolized and them getting stuck into the problems they did.

Hell, I haven't even bought Forza 3 for this reason. I'd rather just wait for it to become a greatest hit title.

$69.99 is only the start. After taxes, we pay $80 in Canada.

I got Madden for free, so I didn't waste the money ... but next year, I'll either have to buy it or wait.

AC2 is not worth the $80 it is going to cost me. I know the game will be great, but I am not going to reply the game over and over to get the "value" out of the game. I'll beat the game, and then either trade it in, or it will sit and collect dust. So for $10 I can have it for a week, beat it and move on. Though I have considered buying it for the $39.99 only because I don't normally have 20 hours in a week to play straight.

NHL10 or more I'll pay the $80 for because I play the ever living hell out of the game. I easily have played 200+ games which would be about 100-150 hours.

Thing with me is, as I said I don't have a lot of gaming time. Basically Thursday and Sunday are my days. And I just don't want to keep forking out $80 every time some new game comes around that I may want to play. The thing that sucks now is, even the used games they are charging the shit out of. How the hell is Madden10 $65.99 USED! When right beside it the new game is $69.99. A $4 dollar different? Even when the game has been out for 6 months, I still have to pay full retail for a used game. That to me is just insane and I refuse to pay it.

It is worthless to program on the PS3 though. Think about it. They program most of their games for the PC only and then port the games over to the xbox later. To get the game onto the PS3 they have to spent a stupid amount of time just to get it over.

If I remember to the sales on the PS3 were fairly low at the time so why spend all the time and effort on a game to port it over to the PS3 only to find they'll lose money on it anyways.

The only bonus the PS3 has at this point is it would be able to handle the constant updates they put out for it but beyond that its simply not feasible for them to make a game on the PS3.

No way they sell it lower then $59.99. Based on the pure amount of people that bought it plus the amount of hours the general player is going to put into it they'll need the money for it.

$70 bucks for a game? wow. I though 60 was bad. It is very rare that a game is worth 60 dollars to me. But if i can get longevity out of a game, then its well worth it.

BTW we are talking about the canadian conversion number. Its $59.99 for americans and $69.99 for us Canadians. Add on our taxes and the game gets close to $80 after its all said and done. The funny part is this was done to fix the gap in the exchange rate. For a while it would of been a good idea for an american to come over and buy his game here because a new game would of been around $40 after the exchange rate so they hiked the prices to compensate. Problem is our dollar is pretty much the same now and has been for months and they just kept it the same.

I can't even keep up with buying new games anymore because of this problem. The last new game I bought was NHL10 and its going to stay like that until march at least.

Which is why I only buy 2-3 games a year.

This year the only games on my radar are MLB09:The Show, Gran Turismo 5, and Skate 3


They've got 1 game on my purchase list, and possibly Madden. I enjoyed this years Madden, and last years as well.

That wasn't even from a podcast. It's from several different magazine interviews.

Why is he an idiot? Because he thinks that Valve is making a mistake not making their games on PS3?

Now that the PS3 has a decent install base one could argue that L4D might actually do better on PS3. If Valve was able to offer free content on PS3 like they do on PC (unlike on 360) and there is also the ability to mod, who knows what would happen.

I know Valve is a very community oriented company so I find it off that they would "partner up" with MS just because it's "easier", whereas if they produced the game on PS3 they could get that same community following there. It's no secret that the community on the 360 is nothing compared to the PC. 360 players keep getting fucked with DLC and modding is not an option. I can't wait to see how much they try to charge us for the L4D2 DLC pack.
