I don't buy it. I'm not an expert at programming, but I just don't buy it.
I'll accept that they can't reprogram to put in a menu option for game speed.
But I don't buy the whole "they can't just plugin a speed option".
Explain to me the parameters that tell the game what speed to run at.
*or* create an old people lobby, or OS lobby for those guys to play in.
Give everyone else normal.
Some people understand technology. Some don't have a clue how technology works.
You think it's that simple, I assure you it isn't.
I honestly couldn't tell you specifically why they can't do this, I don't know their infrastructure and don't have much experience in game design myself, but I do know how tech works.
I am constantly faced with requests for seemingly simple tasks (to an end user) that take days and weeks and months to complete.
Just about every instance the user/whoever requesting the task to be completed can't accept why things take so long, but in order for me to even begin explaning why I can't make whatever they want happen in a short amount of time.......I'd have to take them through a couple months of schooling on technology so they could begin to wrap their head around the reasoning I'd give to them.
Which is no different here.
It wouldn't be worth anyone's time at EA to try and educate non-technical people on why their product is designed in a certain manner and why it's not a simple task to alter.
That's the best answer I can give you.
If you don't like it, too bad, but that's how it is and that's just how it works.
Be logical for a second. If it truly was that simple to give the players the option to pick any speed they want, why the fuck wouldn't they just do it? (Save the lame EA comments to follow....)
There's absolutely no logical reason for them to not provide that option, provided it was as simple as you believe it would be. But again, it isn't.
