A few trades thrown in, Andy Dalton in the top 10, Gabbert drops, tons of fun...
1. Carolina Panthers - QB Cam Newton, Auburn
-As close to a given as possible, would be surprised if they change their mind or are able to deal the pick.
2. Denver Broncos - DT Marcell Dareus, Alabama
-Another given as it appears the lineman as distinguished himself from the pack.
3. Buffalo Bills - OLB Von Miller, Texas A&M
-The Bills may have considered a QB but no Newton, no QB. Miller has been at the top of many draft boards recently.
4. Cincinnati Bengals - WR A.J. Green, Georgia
-Gamebreaking weapon for whomever is their QB, a surefire pick here.
5. Houston Texans (via Arizona) - CB Patrick Peterson, LSU
-The first trade of the draft. The Texans may be best suited to stay put and add to their defensive front but they love PP7. They deal a package to Arizona (who won't go QB) to move up and steal him from the Cowboys...who are also trying to move up.
6. Cleveland Browns - DE/OLB Robert Quinn, North Carolina
-The Browns want AJ Green but they are fine in staying pat and taking one of the top pass rushers in the draft. Don't rule out a trade down but again, they like Quinn.
7. San Francisco 49ers - CB Prince Amukamara, Nebraska
-Supposedly, the Niners are not high on Gabbert and with PP7 and Quinn off the board, they decide to go with the #2 corner. They think about Fairley but the idea of having cornerback on lockdown appeals to them.
8. Tennessee Titnas - QB Andy Dalton, Texas Christian
-I know this seems silly, but there are "reports" that say this pick is between Dalton (offense) or Fairley (defense). If they like Dalton that much, they can't pass up the option of taking him. They would prefer taking him with their next pick, but he figured to go in the lower half of the round. I doubt this happens, but let's give it some though.
9. Dallas Cowboys - DE J.J. Watt - Wisconsin
-A semi-surprise as they figure to go OT here, but there are options for them in the second round. Uncle Jerry is pissed they can't move up to get PP7 and they decide to take the best pass rusher on their board, going back on his statement that has no issue with taking an OL player in round 1.
10. Washington Redskins - QB Jake Locker, Washington
-Another bit of a surprise as the Redskins pass on Gabbert and Julio to take Locker. They invest their future in the kid who was figured to be a top 5 pick last year, slid down draft boards but rose back into the top ten late. Don't call it a comeback...
11. Arizona Cardinals - OT Tyron Smith, Southern California
-They decide to invest in a potential franchise left tackle as they will either use a later round pick on a QB or sign a veteran. They could go defense here but with Dallas passing on Smith, they're more than satisfied in stabilizing the left side.
12. Minnesota Vikings - DT Nick Fairley, Auburn
-Surprise! The Vikings consider Gabbert, but aren't totally sold on him either and choose the guy who once figured to be a top 2 or 3 pick. Fairley can mature alongside Kevin Williams up front and for their sake, doesn't become a bust.
13. New England Patriots (via Detroit) - WR Julio Jones, Alabama
-Those dastardly Pats uncharacteristically trade up with Julio falling and pluck him before the St. Louis Rams can take him. The Pats give up one first round pick and a later round pick to move up and get a guy who can be an instant force in the offense.
14. St. Louis Rams - DE Aldon Smith, Missouri
-With Jones taken ONE PICK BEFORE, the Rams resort to a defensive pick. They consider nukka's favorite Corey Liugent, but settle on Aldon Smith who surprisingly is still on the board.
15. Miami Dolphins - QB Blaine Gabbert, Missouri
-The double Mizzou kicker brings us the end of Gabbert's slide. The Dolphins may really like Mark Ingram but they can't pass up the opportunity to take a potential franchise QB. Henne who?
16. Jacksonville Jaguars - DE Cameron Jordan, California
-Jaxville still wants to add talent to the defensive front and Jordan has a lot of momentum heading into the draft. No character concerns and a great motor make him a likable option.
17. Detroit Lions (via New England from Oakland) - DE Da'Quan Bowers, Clemson
-The run on ends continues as the Lions are ecstatic to be able to trade down and still pick up the guy they would have taken earlier. They're satisfied that Bowers' knee has medically checked out and froth at the mouth to add him to the young defensive line.
18. San Diego Chargers - DE Ryan Kerrigan, Purdue
-The run ends here (pun intended) as the Lightning Bolts pick up one of the 3-4 caliber pass rushers in Kerrigan, a player with good explosiveness off the line.
19. New York Giants - G/C Mike Pouncey, Florida
-A tough call here for NY as they ultimately pass on Liugent/Wilkerson and decide between Pouncey and Costanzo. Pouncey offers more versatility and they hope he can turn into a franchise center.
20. Philadelphia Eagles (via Tampa Bay) - OT Anthony Costanzo, Boston College
-The Eagles consider Jimmy Smith or an offensive tackle and decide to jump up a few spots to get the next big tackle, instead. It means leap-frogging both the Chiefs and Colts who may target the same position.
21. Kansas City Chiefs - OLB Akeem Ayers, UCLA
-With Costanzo and Pouncey off the board, they go defense. They decide against Phil Taylor so they go with the best remaining pass rusher in Ayers.
22. Indianapolis Colts - OT Gabe Carimi, Wisconsin
-Here, it's either Solder or Carimi and they will prefer the latter.
23. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (via Philadelphia) - CB Jimmy Smith, Colorado
-Not satisfied with any of the remaining DEs at this spot and with Justin Houston's off the field issues, they resort to taking the #3 corner.
24. New Orleans Saints - RB Mark Ingram, Alabama
-Apparently, Ingram is a hot commodity right now but he finds his way down south to the Bayou. The Saints need a stable back who can play as close to an entire season as possible.
25. Seattle Seahawks - DT Corey Liugent, Illinois
-With the QB run, they pass on Ponder and Mallet and take a legit top-20 prospect. They need more beef up front and Liugent is the next best tackle prospect after the top two guys.
26. Baltimore Ravens - DT Muhammad Wilkerson, Temple
-A versatile lineman, Wilkerson should fit well into their system and give them plenty of options to gameplan with.
27. Atlanta Falcons - TE Kyle Rudolph, Notre Dame
-Why the hell not? There is no one player who leaps out as a must have here so they take the best overall tight end in the draft and cover their ass after Tony Gonzo calls it a career (after the upcoming season, right?).
28. New England Patriots - DL Cameron Heyward, Ohio State
-Another versatile defensive player will be able to play a number of different spots in the New England defense.
29. Chicago Bears - OT Derek Sherrod, Mississippi State
-The Bears get their potential franchise left tackle to protect Jay Cutler and stabilize the rest of what was a bad line in 2010.
30. New York Jets - DT Phil Taylor, Baylor
-With Kris Jenkins' time in green over, they get the best nose tackle in the draft. Ideally, he clogs the middle and lets linebackers get through the line.
31. Pittsburgh Steelers - CB Aaron Williams, Texas
-The Steelers will go OL or CB here and they decide DB here because they figure they can pick up one of the reminaing lineman in round two. Williams gives them some fresh blood in an older crew and especially a crew that has hit free agency.
32. Green Bay Packers - DE/OLB Brooks Reed, Arizona
-The sexy pick this week as Reed has busted his ass to get himself considered as a first round prospect. Compared to Clay Matthews, the Packers need help on the opposite side and Reed is that balls to the wall type of player.

33. Cincinnati Bengals (via New England from via Carolina) - QB Christian Ponder, Florida State
-The Bengals reportedly like Ponder enough to trade up to get him (a 2012 first rounder and then some, perhaps). They need to move up because Buffalo has a keen eye and the Pats rather not do business with a division rival.
34. Buffalo Bills - QB Colin Kaerpernick, Nevada
-The Bills take the previous trade in stride and take their next QB option in Kaerpernick. He can sit for a year behind Fitzpatrick and learn the NFL playbook.
35. Cincinnati Bengals - DT Marvin Austin, North Carolina
-Perhaps I'm giving the Bengals execs too much credit, being able to get 3 top-35 picks (and only trading away a 2012 first rounder and perhaps a third rounder this year). Austin may have character concerns but he has had one hell of an off-season and could realistically be a late-first round pick.
36. Denver Broncos - LB Martez Wilson, Illinois
-The Broncos need to bolster that defense and with the additions of Dareus and now Wilson, they are certainly suring up front. Wilson may be a bit undersized to play inside, but he is a surefire tackler.
37. Cleveland Browns - WR Torrey Smith, Maryland
-They can't get A.J. Green and pass on Julio in the first round, but they get a more than capable prospect in the form of Smith. He's 6' and has the skills to develop into Colt McCoy's favorite weapon.
38. Arizona Cardinals - OLB Justin Houston, Georgia
-The positive drug test at the combine keeps Houston from becoming a first round pick. However, the Cardinals need talent at the OLB spot and Houston is the best available player.
39. Tennessee Titans - DT Stephen Paea, Oregon State
-They end up picking up one of the top tackles in the draft with their second pick and add some young beef to the line. Alongside Derrick Morgan, they have some nice young players to build upon.
40. Dallas Cowboys - OT Ben Ijalana, Villanova
-Perhaps not one of the elite offenisve tackles in the class and he's a bit of a project but he can play either tackle spot plus inside at guard.
41. Washington Redskins - DE Allen Bailey, Miami (Fl.)
-The Redskins have a lot of options here but they have to make them count (no 3 or 4 round picks). They decide on Bailey who has great measurable and would give them a nice threat opposite Orakpo.
42. Arizona Cardinals (via Houston) - G Danny Watkins, Baylor
-Somehow, Watkins falls and ends up as part of the rejuvenation unit, a/k/a the Cardinals draft class. Being able to pick up Tyron Smith and Watkins, the left side of the Cardinals offensive line should be set for a generation.
43. Minnesota Vikings - QB Ryan Mallet, Arkansas
-They end up getting a QB in the second round. Although Mallet has the biggest character concerns of any player in the draft (moreso than Cam), his skill set is unquestionable.
44. Detroit Lions - CB Brandon Harris, Miami (Fl.)
-Another first round talent falls and the Lions snatch him up in a heartbeat. Harris adds great athleticism and toughness to the Lions defensive backfield. Much needed...
45. San Francisco 49ers - RB Mikel Leshoure, Illinois
-Time to think about the post-Gore era as he seemingly always has issues staying healthy. Leshoure is considered the #2 back in the class, brings pass catching ability and powerful legs to the table. Opening up the offense for another tough runner is a way to go in San Fran.
46. Denver Broncos (via Miami) - CB Ras-I Dowling, Virginia
-The defensive rebuilding process continues as they add a potential future starter at corner, especially with concerns about how much longer Champ Bailey can play.
47. St. Louis Rams - WR Leonard Hankerson, Miami (Fl.)
-The Rams wait until day two to get their receiver as Hankerson is that dude. Over six feet tall, he has great hands, is a leader and possesses everything except lighting speed.
48. Oakland Raiders - CB Johnny Patrick, Louisville
-He's fast.
49. Jacksonville Jaguars - WR Jon Baldwin, Pittsburgh
-Potential gamebreaking receiver, has maturity questions but his talent is legit. They hope he's not like the other draft pick years ago turned to be, what's his name?

-They need more youth on defense and Carter is young and although he has injury concerns, he's one hell of an athlete.
51. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - DE Adrian Clayborn, Iowa
-Admittedly, I forgot about him in the second half of round one….Bucco's gain
52. New York Giants - WR Randall Cobb, Kentucky
-Instant multi-tool weapon for Big Blue as Cobb becomes their return specialist and a home run weapon out of the slot. Fuck off Darius Reynaud.
53. Indianapolis Colts - DT Christian Ballard, Iowa
-Incredible physical tools, ten cent head as he also tested positive for marijuana at the combine. Regardless, the Colts will jump to add him to their front line with all that ability and versatility.
54. Philadelphia Eagles - CB Davon House, New Mexico St.
-Four year starter in college, good size and ball skills, should excel in Philly's defense.
55. Kansas City Chiefs - DT Jarvis Jenkins, Clemson
-Versatile lineman, can play the nose or end, great measurable who gets in the backfield to disrupt plays.

-Great motor, sure tackler.

53. Indianapolis Colts - DT Christian Ballard, Iowa
-Incredible physical tools, ten cent head as he also tested positive for marijuana at the combine. Regardless, the Colts will jump to add him to their front line with all that ability and versatility.
54. Philadelphia Eagles - CB Davon House, New Mexico St.
-Four year starter in college, good size and ball skills, should excel in Philly's defense.
55. Kansas City Chiefs - DT Jarvis Jenkins, Clemson
-Versatile lineman, can play the nose or end, great measurable who gets in the backfield to disrupt plays.
56. New Orleans Saints - DE Jabaal Sheard, Pittsburgh
-Great motor, sure tackler.
57. Seattle Seahawks - G Rodney Hudson, Florida State
-They need bodies up front and Hudson should be able to start from day one.
58. Baltimore Ravens - WR Titus Young, Boise State
-The big play receiver they desperately desire.
59. Atlanta Falcons - DE Sam Acho, Texas
-He may not be the fastest or strongest, but nobody outworks him and he seems to have success routinely.
60. New England Patriots - G/T Clint Boling, Georgia
-Versatile blocker who could start from day one.
61. San Diego Chargers (via NY Jets) - WR Jerrel Jernigan, Troy
-Playmaker, is the type of explosive weapon the Chargers could use in addition to Gates and the bundle of receivers they have (assuming VJax is gone).
62. Chicago Bears - DT Terrell McClain, South Florida
-Someone needs to make Tommie Harris, history.
63. Pittsburgh Steelers - OT Orlando Franklin, Miami (Fl.)
-Projects as either a RT or guard in the NFL, he's got a tremendous mean streak that should fit in nicely with the Steelers offense.
64. Green Bay Packers - RB Ryan Williams, Virginia Tech
-Health questions will follow him, but he has the potential to be a productive back in the pros.
