Those dominant teams didn't appear until Joe had already a ring under his belt. It was basically a two man team. Lott was a beast on the other side and Hicks had a career year in the secondary. But there was nothing special about that team. He proved he can win a SB on his own. That 81 team had far less talent than any Manning team.

I think you need to reread what wrote.
Manning's always had a grade A roster on the offensive side. T.Glen Faulk Harrison Edge Clark were all with him since his NFL berth.Not to mention the yearly offensive first round picks.
I don't play the more with less card but since you seem to want to Montana has the upper hand.

Even the what if switcheroo card I hate. I think Montana wins more than 1 ring with those Colts , I don't think Manning gets past the Cowboys and Bengals to win SB in 81 with guys named Clark and Solomon.

I think you guys forget how special Montana. Especially playing this numbers game. Jim Brown had some insane stats but until you see footage of Jim and hear the stories you don't grasp how good he was. I think we all get how good Manning is but some of you are forgetting Montana's greatness.

Even though he hasn't won another Superbowl Belichick saw the league was changing into a pass happy one and started to change with it in '07 when he acquired Moss and Welker and in '07 the Patriots used the shotgun more than any other team in NFL history had at the time. I put Belichick up there as one of the most genius coaches of all time.

so because manning couldnt win, and Dungy didnt get his rings, dungy was a bad coach....but montana did win and walsh got his rings, so walsh is a great coach.

maybe is manning didnt have his 8 one and dones he might have a few more rings. maybe if he didnt choke in those big games he would have more rings. this is why he will never be the goat.

I prefer to use my eyes when evaluating a quarterback rather than stats or super bowl wins.

Stats are important to consider. But they don't tell the entire story and they can't be used alone to evaluate performance.

Again, they are important to factor in:

Joe Montana (192 regular season games played, 164 regular season games started, 117-47), 63.2% completion, 273 touchdowns, 139 INT.

Peyton Manning (240 games played, 240 games started, 163-73) 65.5%, 491 touchdowns, 219 INT.

Manning has played better for longer. Championships depend more on the team than the Quarterback alone. Does QB matter in the playoffs and in the SB? Of course. But a great team will beat a great QB and the 49ers had both more often than the Colts.

Manning has changed the position and the game of football. He doesn't just play quarterback, he orchestrates the offense. He is the ultimate weapon because he knows where he needs to go and how to get the football there. Outisde the one season he lost, he hasn't missed a game and has never slowed down. He is reliable, durable, and professional. He is the ultimate team captain and leader.

He is the epitome of the position. You can't get any better. Nobody is perfect, but Manning is as close to it as you can get.

I think his play on the field is a glaring enough argument as to why he is the greatest to ever do it. He does things at the LOS that I have never seen any other QB in the history of the game do. His ability to make the adjustments at the line, get the offense into the best play possible and then execute snap after snap is a thing of beauty. Nobody has done what Peyton is able to do, dude is in a league of his own.
