F1: 2011

Oh wow. That was one awesome race. I got quite a handful from a few drivers, including Jenson Button, Michael Schumaker, and Mark Webber. Schumaker took the early lead from me, but fell way back when his pit strategy failed miserably. He pitted 2 laps before I did. I held the lead for a few laps, and then Button took over. On lap 15 I was able to shoot past him on a hairpin turn. Luckily with a pack of slow cars, I was able to gain an insurmountable lead and I took home the checkered flag. Pretty damn awesome to win my first race. Starting on that front row really gives you an advantage.

The win moved me up to 3rd in the driver's championship and moved team Marussia Virgin up to 5th in the constructor's championship. Next up, Grand Prix de Monaco.

And no surprise, this game is awesome with the wheel.
 
What level did you say you're playing on?

I went down to Intermediate

But I guess its custom since I have Traction control on full and everything else off.


OH, and I'm racing for HRT, which isn't a very fast car/team

I don't know if it was the new setup that really helped me out, or if it was me knowing Catalunya really well from racing on it in 3 different Forza games, but man my car was looking good last night.
 
More than I have.


I have a question, not for you necessarily but just a question.

When you race, you're given a full tank of fuel (I believe there is no re-fueling during a race). I wonder if when racing a partial race , if you're given a full tank or enough to make it through the x number of laps in that race. ?
 
Pretty sure it's a full tank. Although I can't remember what the rules were for 2011, but for 2012 there's no refueling.

There is no tire wear on intermediate


Anyway, I finished 11th.. I lost about 3 places when (I think Perez) blew an engine and I was following a smoke cloud for a lap and couldn't see anything.
 
I got pole position at Catalunya with 1:24.517

Lets hope for zero incidents. I have fuel and tire settings on simulation now.

Could use a good race after finishing 22nd in Monaco.

Well, that is a scary preview (since I'm one track behind you)

I changed to 40%, so this race at Catalunya will be 26 laps. Planning pit stops is a pain. I'm starting with options that are at 70%. That means somewhere I'm going to have to do about 10 laps but I think I can do that on Primes.

I'm debating on whether I want to race now or wait. I'm almost afraid to see how this turns out.

At least the weather will be good. I HATE when you have good weather for P and Q but it ends up pouring for the race.
