I feel bad for Minnesota, because they could never address their QB questions until they got an answer from Favre. There's no way they're a Super Bowl contender with Tarvaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels.

As a Vikings fan I don't feel one bit bad for the Vikings. While they thought (along with plenty others after his past season) Favre was coming back, there is no reason why they couldn't address their QB questions. Just this past April they had a chance to draft Clausen. While we don't know what he'll amount to, I'd rather take a chance with having him sit behind Favre for a year, two if the Vikings are lucky/unlucky. (great season from Favre, but no SB win, thus him deciding to come back just one more season) or at worst competing with Jackson and Rosenfels for the starting job.

Instead what the Front Office decided to do was put all their entire season on the biggest flip flopper since Kerry, and 2 guys who are never going to be a competent starter in this league.

The organization HAAAAAD to know that Favre wasn't going to play forever, and this teams window is going start to close with the Packers nipping at their heels, not to mention Chicago should Cutler ever get his shit together. They had a chance at grabbing a potential franchise QB to team with Peterson and Rice for the next few years, but nope Childress still believes Jackson is gonna be a SB winning QB.

So no I don't feel bad for them at all, they done goofed themselves, and everyone saw this possible scenario a mile away.

Ted Thompson didn't make the popular choice running him out of town, but it was the right decision and he had to do it. He is still vilified in Wisconsin for it.

I don't know how the Vikings can even work in camp with this bs going on. The offense doesn't even know who will be at the reins come week one. He simply has that franchise hostage and no one in that front office seems to care.

last year i was lucky enough to have both packers/vikings games televised. thank god for san francisco's shitty attendance. anyways. i threw massive parties each time. and each time it ended very quietly, with the beer drank but the food half touched, and everyone patting me on the shoulders saying "its ok man" while i dejectedly sat on my green bay throw rug.

i truly want favre to come back so we can get just ONE win against him. it will be the happiest day of my life. but theres no denying he raped the packers last year. too bad he doesnt understand that the move was about more than 2-3 years of post "retirement". it was about the next 10 years. rodgers was set to have his contract end, they needed to season him. they needed to see what he is made of. and they needed to have a clear vision, the ability to get it done.

it's just too bad that the team most suited to what he has at this point in his career happens to be the team every packer fan hates the most. and its too bad that he lost all credibility in wisconsin by signing with minnesota. but it is what it is, and the team was there before primafavra, and will be there long after hes gone. so while i appreciate the superbowl victory, and the sheer joy that it was to be a young football fan falling in love with the game while he led the team to its mid 90s glory, that doesnt give him a free pass to be a douchebag in '10. this bitch starts more drama than the most ghetto of hood rats.

I'm around. Still read pretty often. Life has been busy of late with finally moving back to GB and the new job. And its summer so I'm outside away from the computer a lot more. I'm sure my posting will pick up come football season and as we roll into fall and winter.

It would certainly seem so, which is interesting in that the Packers traded Favre away because they didn't want to let him compete against Rodgers in training camp for the starting job. I think it was partly due to the media circus that would have ensued and partly because in his heart of hearts, Thompson knew that Favre would win the starting job in a fair competition and he would be embarrassed publicly and lose control of the locker room. Not to mention it would have been a huge blow to Rodgers confidence, who does have all of the tools to be a pro-bowl caliber QB for many years.

Though I almost 100% disagree with Bill's take on how the situation went down, the answer at this point is pretty much yes.

At first this was not the case. It seemed almost 50/50 on people siding with Favre or the Packers. But now a couple years later it seems majority dislike Favre, at least as a person. Most still respect his skills and what he did for the franchise. They just now realize he's self centered attention whore douche bag who is a hell of a QB.

I think there were two turning points for peoples opinion of Favre in GB. 1) Aaron Rodgers succeeded. Most fans no longer care about not having a Favre and consider us in a better position now and for the future. And 2) Favre went to our rival which even for a lot of Favre supporters was inexcusable.

I still know some folks who will cheer for Favre as a Viking. But majority either hate the guy outright now or refuse to like him until he is out of MN (which is where I tend to fall)

See, this is what I always thought. Going out of conference to the Jets is one thing, but to a hated division rival(just to stick it to your former team)? Fuck that. Even though Favre was a great QB, a first ballot HOFamer and won a SB, I would never look at him the same way if I was a Packer fan. For me, it would be like Lawrence Taylor going to the Cowboys.

But I'm sure all will be forgiven in a few years at Favre's induction into Canton.

my friend and i were discussing this over the weekend. what would happen if he happened to win a SB with the vikings and decided to go in as a viking lol.

the chance of it happening is actually less that 1% i'm sure, but what if he's just that miffed at the organization, and he pulled some shit like that.

Rodgers has piled up a ton of fantasy stats and has a 17-15 record as a starter. One losing season and one winning season and a one and done playoff appearance in which he started and finished the game with horrible turnovers. He's younger than Favre and that's about it.

For me it was when Brett went on his Greta infomercial on Fox News, bashing the GB management over bogus reasons. It was very clear that Favre's intentions all along was to try and push GB into giving an unconditional release. But Mr. Bill has his own take on things.
