Honestly, I think Walk is one of their best songs... ever.

Arlandria and Walk are my favorites by far. One thing that I have noticed is that I love the chorus of every song on the album. They are all just very catchy to me.

Like all the songs on this album and ever since I heard "The Pretender" I always thought they should make more hard rock songs like that. Glad they did a whole album.

Favorites are Alandria, Walk, Dear Rosemary, and Bridge Burning.

The only song I don't like on the album is White Limo, but then again I've never been a fan of that screamo crap.

Its top to bottom a very strong album. I didn't expect much and they delivered. Kudos. It'll probably appear on a lot of people's Top 30 albums of 2011 at the end of the year.

I'm still listening to it, def my favorite rock album of the year.


I'm not sure I'd rank it higher than the first two Foo albums, though. But, that's only because their (or just Dave Grohl's) first album is a grunge album and The Colour and the Shape is amazing.

Bridge Burning, White Limo, and I Should Have Known are my 3 favorite songs from Wasting Light, though.

This song blew me away. the whole record is pretty badass. I listened to it and went "damn... maybe rock isnt dead after all."

I have alot of old friends that I grew up with listening to rock n roll and they dont understand why I listen to rap mostly nowadays. It's because the rap I grew up with evolved and got better, but they stopped making rock records this good. That emo/screamo/"hardcore"/"post-hardcore" shit is just not the 90s rock I headbanged too. meanwhile all the rap of the mid 90s turned into quality shit like Mos Def, Kid Cudi, Kanye West, etc. the art form progressed while remaining true to what it was, while rock n roll turned into some bullshit that faggy kids with womens pants and eyeliner listened to.

The Foo Fighters still fucking bring it though, and they are still holding down the fort for heavy guitars, unlike that awful pile of shit that was the recent Metallica album. I'm even going to speak a little blasphemy here, but, the best thing about Nirvana was Kurt Cobain blowing his brains out so Dave Grohl could make an even better band. they've been more relevent for a longer period of time and they, along with Queens of the Stone Age, are pretty much carrying the torch for the entire genre these days, something I don't think Nirvana could have pulled off.

I'm even going to speak a little blasphemy here, but, the best thing about Nirvana was Kurt Cobain blowing his brains out so Dave Grohl could make an even better band. they've been more relevent for a longer period of time and they, along with Queens of the Stone Age, are pretty much carrying the torch for the entire genre these days, something I don't think Nirvana could have pulled off.

Though, I am a huge Nirvana fan, I'll agree with you that Grohl needed to be a frontman in his own band. It's just in his blood. Nirvana wouldn't have made it another year the way things were going with the band. According to Krist and Dave in interviews, they said the band was basically done after their last tour and Cobain was completely burned out on Nirvana. The 1994 concerts have absolutely no energy and is the worst sounding Nirvana because of it.

With that said, Cobain (ruling out is suicide/murder/what ever the hell it was) he may have done solo albums or joined up with some other band (possibly something with Michael Stripe). I don't think it would have mattered what Kurt did, he was the reason Nirvana was so successful. He wrote 99% of the lyrics and music that they produced, which makes me strongly believe that he would have maintained his relevance in the rock scene. At the very least, his music would have stayed fresh, as he wasn't into following trends. But, I'm a Nirvana homer so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

A little off topic, but the one band I think honestly would have been more successful than the Foo's or Nirvana would be Alice in Chains....if their lead singer Layne Staley would have stayed clean. They had two number one albums, in 1994 and 1995, and they didn't go on tour to support either album. Hard to stay in the public eye when nobody even sees you :dunno:

Try listening to stuff that isn't on the radio or main stream, there are still tons of good rock bands out there, you just need to dig a little bit to find them.

IYH and ESPG were both just plain awful and while Wasting Light is a solid album, let's not make it out to be this decades OK Computer or anything.

They haven't released a great album since 1999. Nirvana will always rank ahead of them because they blazed the trail.
