I remember seeing that play all over TV.

I went to Cedar Park. I think it was the year after I graduated.

Mack can recruit, and just about every high schooler in the state of Texas, or the surrounding area, would kill to play for the Longhorns. They'll return to the top of the Big 12(10).

Typical knee jerk reaction to what was nothing more than a routine down year, but that's the sports age we live in. If this was 25 years ago, nobody gets fired, no alarms go off, nobody learns about the supposed in fighting, and they bounce back and win 10 games.

Much to do about nothing. It happens.

Three years later, not a single Texas player was drafted. Those guys would have been freshman or incoming recruits on this Texas team.

Mack really let things erode to a staggering degree in his last few seasons in Austin. Talk about asleep at the wheel.

I blame the defense. Whenever I saw Texas play, their defense was atrocious. Even against mid-major schools. As Mike White said, just recruit two gangbangers, put them at safety, and line up on defense. I think some of the problem is that Texas has probably always been overrated, and the difference between a national title game team and a 5-7 team was smaller than most people thought.

The biggest factor is the one being talked about the least. They didn't have a QB. Colt McCoy to total garbo.

The fall to mediocrity. Cringed a little at my post. I haven't paid any attention to Texas since Nebraska departed the Big XII for the B1G. But what a funny bump post-draft. Nahste has a strong memory.
