Finally someone is shedding light on this epidemic. You guys, not sure if you're aware, but a lot of college football players smoke marijuana. In this hard-hitting expose by investigative reporter Mark Schlabach, you will find the stunning revelation that yes, 18-22 year old athletes are experimenting with illegal drugs.

And it gets worse. As Schlabach writes, apparently this trend is ONLY GOING TO CONTINUE .... :runaway:

I think this college coach might be on to something here:

One Football Bowl Subdivision coach says that athletes of today seem to treat marijuana as players from previous generations treated alcohol and that many of his players prefer smoking pot to drinking because weed leaves no hangover.

Also apparently Nick Saban takes his cues from Anslinger/Nixon:

If marijuana infiltrates your program, then everyone is going to do it and you've got a huge problem. If you don't test and do it right, that's what's going to happen -- because it's everywhere on college campuses.

NCAA statistics show a bump in the number of stoned athletes.

LOL, like anyone could possibly know that. And here's the statistic he is basing that off of:

In the NCAA's latest drug-use survey, conducted in 2009 and released in January, 22.6 percent of athletes admitted to using marijuana in the previous 12 months, a 1.4 percentage point increase over a similar 2005 study.

First of all, terrible methodology. Second of all, three years out of date data. Third of all, a fucking 1.4 percent increase in a really horribly constructed survey probably falls within standard deviation.

The funny thing is, you've got places like Yahoo and SI uncovering scandals at OSU, Miami, USC, Oregon, UNC, etc. all the while ESPN spends their time on shit like this.

I can't really get mad at Saban as he has to play the part so to avoid the moral elite. Obviously it goes on at all colleges and thus sporting programs, but the moral elite don't want to face that reality. There are some people who have no clue about this sort of thing.
