I used to buy every PPV, no matter what. Now I don't buy any.

The cards arent as strong, but that never stopped me before. Money is tighter, but $50 isnt going to break me.

The real reason, is there is waaay too much free MMA.

-Strikeforce on Showtime
-Strikeforce on CBS
-KIMBO TUF
-Ultimate Fight Night
-DREAM on HDNet
-Sengoku on HDNet
-Free UFC prelims on Spike
-WEC
-random small orgs on HDNet
-Bellator starts up next year on FSN

I end up debating whether to buy these UFC's, and always end up not doing so, because I know *insert free show here* is coming up, or I just watched something the night before (as is the case today) and got my fix.

The last UFC PPV I purchased was 100.

Just out of curiousity, has the influx of free MMA influenced your purchasing decisions?
 
I dont buy like I used to, just to much money when you have all this other great MMA for free like you said

Plus, the UFC runs way to many PPVs, its insane to pay for all these shows, they need to cut it in half, stack the PPV cards and run more free shows on spike, time for the UFC to give back to the guys that supported this for years and years when it wasnt a fad

Exactly, i'm watching the Super 6 tonight, and I'm not even a big boxing fan. I just watched a shit ton of free MMA, and the elite free boxing is way more compelling to me than the $50 mediocre PPV.
 
Let me add a disclaimer..if this was still Lesnar/Carwin, Tito/Forrest, I would be buying. But i'm clearly a "pick and chooser" now, when I used to be a buy everything guy.
 
I used to only buy UFC PPVs when they have two or more of my favorite fighters or one really good matchup. But having free shows + torrents of PPVs available within 48 hours or less make it very difficult for me to justify purchasing one, especially after the Machida-Rua travesty.

I'll disagree a bit on this point.

Dana gives us plenty of free fights. TUF, Ultimate Fight Nights, TUF Finale's, and shitty/European PPV's on Spike...plus all of the old taped fights that run non stop (if you are into that sort of thing or never saw some them...good for new fans).

Too many PPV's dilutes the shows, but at the same time, as long as PPV is the #1 revenue stream, that wont stop. Nature of the beast.
 
I see where you're coming from, but it hasn't been an influence for me. Main reason is that I can never get enough of watching live events no matter how many free shows are on, so still and always for me its been about the quality of the card. If it's a good card I'll buy it, if it's not (like tonights) then I'll pass regardless of the free events. Plus, there aren't really a lot of free events that I'm watching. I can't get the WEC anymore since VS was pulled from DTV, TUF has been pretty bad fight wise, I love StrikeForce but its not like they're putting on a ton of shows, DREAM and Sengoku I don't follow much and I don't know why that is, probably the time difference, but I know I've been missing out on some quality fights there. Basically I still need the PPVs for my fight fix, I just wish the quality of the cards were more consistent.

you're probably right, but its just because it has picked up lately, when Affliction was had that long wait for Fedor/Barnett and Strikeforce was still doing local stuff the UFC had a run of not showing good free stuff, since Affliction folded and Strikeforce has been coming hard the UFC has stepped up there game

Thats why we need comp, you know this and I know this, but most people dont seem to get it, without a strong competitor you will be paying 50 bucks for Ken/Tito IV and Junie Browning in the co main event
 
I havent bought a UFC in months.. hooking the CPU to the TV and watching like that or even just watching on my 22 inch monitor or free (or little price if I want a HD stream) is cool with me. Occasionally someone else will host a UFC, but as ive said b4.. dude that I know that usually hosts it as bitch about the weed smoking at his house cause of the kids, and thats reasonable, but id rather have a couple buddies over here to watch or watch alone on a stream, for free. Im a firm believer of not paying for things I can get for free.

Just isnt a priority for me to drop 60+ on an event I can watch for free, especially when theres sometimes multiple cards a month and some have mediocre lineups. Finding an HD stream is ideal.. but if I gotta watch cards like this past weekend on an average stream it dont bother me much.
 
I don't even remember the last time I've ordered a PPV. It's either I go to a fight party, bar, or streaming it at home.

I'm aware of that, thanks. Point is if you did wouldn't you pay for it vs watching it online, despite all the regular season games being free?

Of course mostly everyone is not going to spend money on bad fights, but for the big super bowl caliber fights, you would enjoy watching those online?
