I've been tired of it for months, and one of my friends and I were talking about Texas A&M and San Diego State and shit moving and it got me pissed off.

I'm with you, man. I was doing fine dealing with the hypocrisy of the NCAA, which would ban Illinois for the basketball postseason because an Illini indian was their mascot but would look the other way when Ohio State has 15 football players taking "oral exams"...but once I heard that San Diego State was moving conferences, I was likeWHAT THE FUCK????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That gets enough ranting. I can go to plenty of other threads to bitch about the NCAA for that.

Why do you give a shit whether college players do well in school or not? How does that affect your viewing of the games?

It's not just the sport. It's the integrity of the game. It's destroying the function of college athletics and turning it into a minor-league sport. 95% of these kids will never make it professionally in their sport, and the coaches are letting them run wild and do whatever the fuck they want, and the athletes, too blind to see that they aren't that good, are wasting their chance. When they don't make it in the pros, they are going to end up broke as fuck with a dead-end job making minimum wage. They deserve better than that.

Minor leaguers can get in college afterwards. Sure, I guess football players can too, but what's easier: getting into college after bypassing it and never having been to go to the MLB and then applying, or reapplying while having to say that you were already there but failed?

That's not ruining college football for me. That doesn't affect me watching the games. That's just one of the things I think is wrong with the system. What affects me watching the games is the tearing apart of rivalries and history, the teams giving out sub par performances from traveling all the way across the country when they should have stayed within 200 miles.

You can easily reapply with just your highschool transcripts as many times as you would like. You just won't get credit for the classes you actually passed. You act as if you get 1 chance at getting your Bachelors Degree and if you fuck it up, your life is over. There's tons of ways these players, and anybody else for that matter, can get back into school. It's just a matter of desire at that point.

I've always thought the same about the morons who feel sympathy for pro athletes because "what if they have to retire when they are 30 and they've only made $3 million...how are they supposed to live the rest of their life off of that?" I didn't know that retiring from sports precluded you from getting any sort of job for the rest of your life. Not only should you have a free college degree at that point, you should also have name recognition and a ton of contacts that you can call on for a job. And if you have none of those things, ESPN will hire you to be a studio analyst.
