I think you are looking to shit on them where it isnt warranted. They dont have a stellar track record and usually deserve criticism but this isnt one of those instances. Long story short, give credit when its due. Madden has been a good game the past 2 installments and it seems like they are striving to make it significantly better.

Yeah maybe I will... after I play it and it is what it is. But trust me, my cynicism is in the minority today. There's a full on circle jerk over at OS if you want to indulge yourself with other people who also haven't played the game that are ready to forget 7 years of next gen Madden in the matter of hours.

Hey man, dont buy it if you are that unhappy. I was satisfied with the past 2 Maddens so I dont find it necessary to be overly negative for the sake of being negative. I wanted major improvements to the online franchise mode as well as the game to be made more realistic, looks like they are making strides in both departments so I am happier than a fag with a bag of dicks ATM.

It's barely "physics". Fuck EA for using the term physics to market this. Skip to 2:10 where he starts the tech demo. In each circumstance, it's the exact same animation! All that's happening is that the same animations that have been in Madden every year are just getting "bumped around". When I think of a physics engine, I think of something that would be more fluid and reactionary like Backbreaker. A system where 160 pound offensive linemen can't block Ndamukong Suh. This Madden system is still subject to the rigidity of the "dice roll" animations. All this seems to address is spacial recognition and ghosting. Fixing the those issues are good but it was nothing more than a small step making Madden the best it could be. It's nice but I don't think it's nearly worth the hype that it's getting from the community.

Yeah physics is just a marketing term to get you excited....it really is a better collision system, which was needed like 5 years ago!

Well umm you have people saying "It's not a new physics engine...it's a new collision engine"...and people agreeing with it....*cough cough*

Herp derp. To get a new collision engine you'd have to change the physics engine in the game too.

Obviously, I can't confirm because I don't have the game but I don't think I'm going out on a limb when I say that this won't be fixed...

Real physics would dictate that Suh would toss this mo'fo all over the field like a rag doll. That is the physics I'm talking about. What EA is doing is a half assed work around that resembles what a true physics engine should do. They are using the term physics as a marketing buzzword because they know it sells to a certain segment of the market. They know full well that this system isn't a true physics system. The shortcomings are apparent when you watch that video from yesterday. It's just the old animations with a little adjustment to them. It won't be "every play is different" or whatever they are billing it as.

Im hoping that this obvious mix between physics and animations is a good mix between the awesome yet sometimes unrealistic hits of backbreaker and the mo cap of madden. I like what ive seen in the video but am almost positive madden had said physics was involved every year since 09

I believe they called it the locomotive physics engine and said nearly the same thing they are saying now, although they didnt show the an impressive video of a running back running over a linemans foot. Im really optimistic from what ive seen but as much as I love madden, ive been dooped before lol

It's obviously still a lot of the same animations from the previous Madden's, I'm not gonna argue that at all. But it's nice to see them finally add the subtle things like stumbling & recovering. Should it be touted as one of their biggest features? Of course not, but this is EA we're talking about. I'm certainly not drooling over this like it's going to change the game like never before (although I'd be lying if I said I wasn't partially drooling over Connected Careers), but it's definitely a positive addition.

Well as long as you watch out where you're running when you hit the holes you should be alright. I'm really looking forward to this addition because I believe it's going to benefit me more than some other players as I've always been the guy that holds off the sprint button until I see the hole and burst through it.

I found this recent post by PastaPadre (he's at E3) on FB humorous considering the way the this thread convo has gone..."understated". :lol:

Quite impressed by Madden NFL 13 so far. infinity engine is effective but nicely understated, special teams better, receivers catch the ball so much better, play action not frustrating anymore.
