Dilfer won a super bowl...should I really put the weight of super bowl wins on the QB's shoulders?
Please explain to me in as much detail as possible how Trent Dilfers role in the Ravens 00 team has any resemblance to Warners role in his Superbowl trips.
I find it the most ignorant of comments when people assume that 2 guys playing the same position have the same responsibility and impact on a game regardless of what team/offense/scheme they are in.
I made the argument prior to the playoff run in that thread TailbackU referred to. Theres ZERO question that his abilities and his performances have been HOF worthy. Your reaching pretty deep into the desperation barrel when you start calling players "lucky". When you start calling someone "lucky" for being an Arizona Cardinal youre downright delusional. No running game to speak of and 28th ranked defense. Yet one guys arm carries them to within minutes of a SB victory.
This isnt mid 2008. Youd have to be batshit crazy to argue what Warners done.
He may not be "better" than those 6 QBs listed, but you'd be a damn fool not to realize in any given game he was at least as good and performing at the same level as those guys.
HOWEVER
When a 5 year run during the middle of your career ends up with you being basically non existent you
need longevity to save you. 10 years isnt enough.
Not cracking the top 35 in either yards or TDs will hurt him.
Im fairly sure I said that if Warner had an all time playoff run and SB win it would sway things tremendously in his favor.
Ironically he didnt win it...but it was an MVP worthy performance in a loss.
Fuckin Warner....a year later no change in my opinion. He remains IMO the most interesting HOF question of any currently playing/eligible player.
