If you don't agree with labeling players as elite, so be it, but let others discuss if they so choose.

My title is misleading, I do think Westbrook is an elite PG, however, I wouldn't call him an elite player overall. I think Westbrook is top 15 overall.

I look at players as elite on their position and elite in general compared to the league.

I think there's about 7-10 elite players regardless in the NBA.

James, Howard, Bryant, Wade, Durant, Rose, Paul.

I can look at the PF position, and despite Love not being an "elite" talent across the NBA.

I believe that Love is still an elite PF.

I believe some players transcend above and beyond their position in the NBA. That would make them elite talents in the NBA.

Being an elite PG =/= to being an elite player overall in the NBA.

And if anything he's not even a great PG in the purest sense of a PG.

He's a better overall player than he is a pure point guard.
 
Fuck the word elite. People are throwing this shit around way too much when everyone's definition of elite can be different. Westbrook is a very good PG, but I don't think he is on the same level as Rose/CP3 as far as guards go. Those two have the ability to score AND get all of their teammates involved. Westbrook is hit or miss as far as that goes. We all know Westbrook can score with anyone, but at times his shot selection is questionable and he needs to know when to defer to some of his teammates [mainly KEVIN DURANT]
 
Exactly. I hate when elite begins to equal top 50.

Especially in the NBA there's no more than 4-5 elite players at a time. It's basically the #1 guy on a team that can win a title. Would Westbrook as a leader of a team win a title? Highly, highly doubt it.
