Jets and Revis, $40 Million Dollars Apart.

According to the NY Daily News, the Jets and Darrelle Revis both have 10-year contract proposals on the table, but the sides are $40 million apart.
The $40 million doesn't even include signing bonuses and guaranteed money -- it's "total compensation." The Jets have had a 10-year, $120 million offer "on the table for months," but Revis' camp is asking for $160 million. No wonder Woody Johnson's gut feeling is that Revis won't play in 2010.

The average per year contracts for CB's go from 10 mil a year for Nate Clements then 15 for Nnamdi Asomugha. 12 mil a year is fair money. He needs to stfu and sign the contract, and report to camp.

He deserves to be paid like the best corner in the league because (as Rex Ryan said) he is the best corner in the league. Instead of going out and getting some expensive past-their-prime players (LT, Jason Taylor) that they didn't need to bring in they should have used that money to pay their guy who is in the prime of his career.

No CB should be paid more than the top WR in the league, and they should actually go off each other. CB that's paid the most should be paid to stop the WR that's paid the most, and they should be paid proportionately. Revis should take that 10yr/$120mil with open arms. He hasn't proved himself as much as Andre has so either suck it up and take the deal, or risk playing the year and show the Jets you're not just a one-year-wonder.

Think about it like this. If the Jets wanted to cut him today, he'd have 0 years left on his deal, according to them. It's a product of the system. Revis is not a bad guy for wanting to insure he gets his due compensation while he can.

Like I said before. No problem with him demanding a huge and fair salary.
My idea of fair is nowhere near his. Jets offer (depending on bonus size) seems to be as good as a CB should be getting.

Yes he had the best season any CB has had in 15 years. But hes not Deion. The odds of him replicating that are slim to none. Youd have to be DMVP level year in year out to be worth it. Todays rules mean that shit really isnt in your favor Revis.

I hate Darelle Revis. The only reason he wants so much money is because he knows he can't duplicate his "performance" last season and knows he got lucky so he's afraid that when he actually get burned a lot this season and looks like an average corner, he won't get paid.

In this whole drama, I don't think there is one person that doesn't believe Revis could use a raise. The problem is Revis's ridiculous ASKING PRICE of that raise.

Top corner in the league? Yes, when not covering Ted Ginn (but hey, he is out of the AFCE now). Does he deserve the stupid dollar amount he is askign for? NO.
