One of Darrelle Revis's best friends is Leon Washington. Washington was holding out for more money and decided to show up and play, while on his rookie contract, in hopes of having a good year and getting his cash.
Washington would later break his leg and be traded to Seattle.. still making just the salary he received from signing the tender offer.
Don't think Revis didn't see that and go "I have to get my money now."
Yeah, on the surface 10-years, $160 mil seems ridiculous.. but I'm sure Revis is after guaranteed money.. so if something were to happen to him this year, he wouldn't be screwed.
I can't really blame him for that. I agree with W2B to an extent but when you're clearly the best at your position, a position that's a premium.. coupled with the fact there may be no football next season.. you try to get paid.
