EA's exclusivity deal expired at the end of 2013. Peter Moore has specifically avoided using the word exclusivity on EA's agreement with the NFL since that time when asked about it in interviews. EA hasn't mentioned their exclusivity with the NFL in any press release in about 18 months. It is quite possible that Microsoft secured rights to an NFL game on their platforms.

From June 2014...

The good news is that, per the league office, the exclusive EA license lasts only a “couple more years.” The bad news is that, thanks to all the money earned over the last decade by selling basically the same game with different players in the software and a different picture on the cover (which has been hyped into something far more significant than it is), EA will surely be able to extend the exclusive license, if it wants.

I would love for there to be another NFL game, or another football game alone, available. I just think a lot of the "rumors" is wishful thinking. The 2K football team has since moved on and is now working on the NBA 2K series. If you follow on OS there have also been other 2K rumors that have been shot down. But who knows, the developer for JM16 seems to have a liking for 2K football, bringing it up in the past as "motivation". At the very least it seems sim football is their target.

The only way I can see this being an exclusive Xbox title is if the game had the NFL license. The game will not push enough units without it to have Microsoft dishing out the money required to make the game exclusive to them.

What I believe will happen, probably unveiled at E3, is a new generic football console/PC game. Joe Montana's involvement makes me think there might even be more past legends, sort of like APF 2K8.

1) he is blown away at the SFL's broadcast
2) he is a huge fan of NFL2K5 and APF2K8
3) he said JM16's customization is deep
4) he said 'change is coming' when someone asked him about 'why pay big name announcers when you can get local talent and add things often to keep it fresh. (have no idea what this means and may have been a general statement about simulation football )

As far as a lawsuits for providing customization tools... this has been done a dozen times in video games with zero lawsuits. Would EA or the NFL sue the public for using a tool to replicate their league? History tells us 'no'.

Concur. I imagine a company could get in trouble with providing a tool and the means to share files/teams. The tool by itself, without a means to share the files, which requires individuals to customize their own team seem to be off limits as far as legalities. Regardless, JM16 is now on record saying that franchise mode will be a core part of their game and they will offer extensive customization.

You'd think after the Rex Dixon debacle last year they'd slow down on this type of stuff. I guess arrogance is hard to swallow though.

I'll admit though, this type of attitude makes me glad that I skipped on Madden the last 2 years and doesn't make my decision hard this year either.

That tweet was more of a shot than anything Rex said last year. I think it would be a safe bet that EA's PR department called Donny in to talk to them about that one :lol:

So does the JM16 developing team comprise of these "Trolls"?, or is it just the demographic that has wanted competition and an option for the last 10 years?

Are you asserting Montana's statements "You've waited long enough" and "More than a roster update" are trolling jobs? Or are you just saying anyone who doesn't like the EA product and is excited about a potential option is a troll?

I hope JF16 is great, Madden needs a kick in the rear to get out of cruise control....it's no coincidence that some of the best Madden's to date were the 2004 and 2005 editions when NFL 2K was around to push them.......competition in the market is a win for everyone

If it is a console game (Still not confirmed), I am still hoping for the generic, non-licensed game. A generic game capable of legitimate customization is still capable of more realistically simulating the NFL game simply because of the restrictions the NFL has put on the other product.

If this game is this current generation of consoles' version of all-pro. I probably won't need another console game for the next 7 years. That's a big "IF" though.

You can't define one because Moore was talking about another development team and their tools, not any particular population of supposed "Trolls". Not only did I and others notice it, but EA did also, which is why the tweet you thought was "pretty funny" has since vanished. I guess EA didn't think it was that funny either.

Also, please do not insinuate I have been "continually bashing" Madden here without showing some kind of evidence. You're trying (whether consciously or accidentally) to form a strawman argument by creating a false perception that I have been unreasonably putting down EA's product "Continually". You're trying to call me a troll in order to legitimate Moore's post. Following your logic of fighting fire with fire (in this particular scenario). This couldn't be further from the truth, especially considering my last post that even concerned Madden was September 16th of last year.

In the future please provide evidence before you try to demean someone's character. It works a lot better that way.
