But the problem is, it's based on this "guess" that if Oregon played Boise now, Oregon would win. The only ACTUAL information we have about these two teams is that they already have played, and Boise won. And since the system is so flawed that Oregon will never have to play Boise again, we'll never know if Oregon is better than Boise now or not. Even though Boise will be the one that likely gets screwed in the end if Oregon wins out, BOTH teams really lose in this system because there's no proof that Oregon is better than Boise and Oregon won't get the chance to prove otherwise.

LOL at a 6-3 V-Tech team being ranked ahead of a 9-1 Iowa team. I have no doubt that V-Tech would kill Iowa in a head-to-head matchup, but its a bit premature to start ranking the Hokies above the Hawkeyes, no?

Oregon gives up 51 points to Stanford, gives up 220+ yards to a white running back, has beaten on decent team all year (USC), and still remains in the top 10?? Where was the Iowa-like drop for Oregon? At least Iowa's starting QB got knocked out of the game...Jeremiah Masoli had no such excuse.

That's kind of the point...if a team is ranked ahead of another team, than that team is better.

So there is no penalty for losing? USC can lose to Washington and Oregon, while Iowa loses to Northwestern, yet USC can be 7 spots above Iowa? What would have to happen for USC to drop below Iowa? Lose 3 more games?

As for why Oregon didn't get the Iowa-like drop...
1) A loss to Stanford is not as bad as a loss to Northwestern.

Last I checked, Northwestern was just as good as Stanford. At least Iowa could claim their QB got injured, and they didn't give up 51 points to Northwestern.

And Senser, you're being ridiculous. Of course there is a penalty for losing, but it's also about who you beat. Iowa has 9 wins, but look at some of these wins. A one point victory against Northern Iowa, a three point victory against Arkansas State, a two point victory against Michigan and Michigan State. Iowa could just as easily be 5-5 on the season.

So there is no penalty for losing, but there is for winning?

Mainly because PITT plays in an even shittier conference, and they haven't even played Cincinnati or West Virginia yet.

Plus, there is the common opponent of NC State, who gave Pitt their only loss on the season. A team VT beat by 28 points last week.

Next two weeks will tell the tale on the Panthers.

Same problem as in weeks past. You still have the PAC10 way overrated (2 loss Oregon over undefeated Cincy?), and Northwestern isn't even a blip on the radar despite being the #4 Big10 team (yet South Carolina is? A team whose conference record betters only Vanderbilt?).

South Carolina had a very impressive victory over Clemson. Plus, being the #4 Big Ten team is not exactly impressive, especially considering the Big Ten this year is the weakest of the BCS conferences. Not only would I rank South Carolina ahead of Northwestern, but I would also rank Auburn, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Mississippi State ahead of Northwestern.

Last I checked, the Big 10 had 3 top 10 teams in OSU, Iowa, and PSU. For Northwestern to be better than the #4 Big10 team, they'd essentially have to be ranked among the top 10 teams in the nation. And you are penalizing Northwestern for this because...? S. Carolina plays in a tough conference, but they've done nothing to differentiate themselves from the bottom-feeding SEC teams. They struggle to score 17+ points a game. So, yes, S. Carolina plays in a better conference, but they don't really beat any of their conference opponents.

Interestingly, I think Tennessee and Northwestern might be matched up in one of the bowl games this year...I guess we shall see. Northwestern usually finds a way to win games, Tennessee usually finds a way to lose games.

Cincy struggled the last two weeks against West Virginia and Illinois (???), but were able to pull out victories.

Two things...I don't see how margin of victory can trump Cincy having 2 fewer losses than Oregon, and Cincy didn't "struggle" against Illinois. They got a big lead early then coasted to an easy win.
