I agree the all of thier losses could've gone the other way considering they never lost by more than 7 points, but there's quite a bit of difference between a 6-6 team nad a NC team.

And I could have said if Daryl Clark didn't choke in big games and if Navarro and Sean didn't get hurt at linebacker, we would be in the NC.

You see how that works? I love ya Jay, but come on man, crank down the homerism just a tad. You guys lost to a bad Michigan, Navy and UConn for crying out loud.

What Jayrock is forgetting to realize his Notre Dame never had a problem on the offense. Its a National Championship offense.

The defense is Division III at best.

I really think they should have pushed for Butch, but if the Notre Dame fans like the decision, then roll with it. After all they're the ones suffering the most. Kelly could come in and turn them around rather quick, I want to see him get more then 3 seasons to do it though. If Notre Dame is going into this with the same time line of their last three coaches? It's not going to work in the long run. Give this guy some time, and you'll reap the benefits.

Brian Kelly is one of the best coaches in America, IMO.

To all saying he can't coach a defense: Cincy had a top 25 defense in 2008, then proceeded to lose 10 starters and shift to a 3-4 defense. Kelly played LB in college and was a defensive coordinator before, so I think he knows you need a good defense as well as a good offense.

That said, he has always struck me as a guy with questionable character and motives. But hey, if he wins, who cares?

I know in his first three months at both CMU and Cinci his players got into trouble but it wasn't guys he had brought in to the program and were leftovers from the previous coach. To my knowledge none of the players he recruited ever really got into trouble. Could be wrong though....one of my biggest hangups about Kelly was character issues....whether well founded or not.

He arranged for bonsuses last year for him and his staff that cut into the budget of multiple sports at Cincy.

Kelly's recruits haven't been a problem, his players maintain good grades and his programs have high APR ratings. But what he does behind the scenes is the reason he wasn't even considered for an interview in East Lansing or Ann Arbor (And considering his success with GVSU and CMU in that state it really says a lot).

I really don't see a problem with these. In the long term had he stayed Cinci would have won out as the football would have been more profitable over the long term and more than made the money back.

Lot's of guys step on people to go up the ladder. It happens but I can see your point totally. It doesn't bother me a ton and in all honesty the one thing that bothers me is the way he may have handled his departure from Cinci with his players.

That's what I'm most concerned about...and frankly after Weis and his off putting personality Kelly will seem like nothing. Plus he won't have to battle the money issue at ND for the football program. He knows he will ALWAYS have funding. He can just coach.
