Kimbo Slice Prove's he belongs in the UFC

I have to admit that the Kimbo Slice Experiment has me intrigued. He intrigued me in Elite XC, and he does in the UFC. I also wish I could say that he's convinced me of something - anything - last night. Yes, he beat a legit opponent in Alexander last night. But a legit opponent who is extremely one-dimensional and who strategically fought against his own strengths.

The win over Alexander doesn't change the issues with Kimbo. He's a small heavyweight and unlikely to be able to fight at LHW. His striking has yet to truly impress me in the UFC. And against some of the fantastic wrestlers at HW in the UFC, he's likely to get worked.

That's pretty much the way I look at it. I don't really expect him to ever be a top heavyweight contender, but I enjoy watching him. MMA snobbery is a waste of time, I've learned.

The only time I get annoyed by Kimbo in the UFC is those fans who are trying to claim he's a fantastic, complete fighter or whatever.

Your not looking at what this fight does for his career, it shows that the right weight class for Kimbo to fight in is the light heavy weight. And in that class being a good stand up fighter isn't that bad. Dana White isn't a fool, you give Kimbo fights that he has a fighters chance to win plus it builds his record with quality wins. Like in a year or so a fight with Chuck Lidell would be a Great Fight.

That fight was at 215 and Kimbo said that he didn't like making that cut at all, so I doubt we see him at 205.

Kongo vs Kimbo would be an interesting match. Kimbo does belong, but lets keep things in perspective, 1. we all knew Houston was not going to challenge his ground game, 2. Kimbo's cardio still looked very bad. So while he looked pretty decent overall, he still didn't answer the two big questions that have followed him since his EXC days. On top of that you have to know how to counter all of that circling Houston was doing, I still think Kimbo is a beast standing up, but any experienced standup fighter would have put an end to that.

I disagree. I think Kongo could easily put Kimbo on his back and put in work. Kongo has some damn good GNP.

I don't understand how Kimbo is so out of shape even after dropping 15 pounds.

And how the hell he even shed 15lbs. is beyond me considering the dude was a jacked pig at 230.

Ya, I dont see him routinely making the cut to 205, he was gassed at 215 after two rounds, one of which was extremely uneventful. If anything, the cut is gonna be harder for him to make as he gets older and with cardio being an issue for him to begin with, he doesnt need the extra disadvantage of a tough cut. As for Kongo/Kimbo, I gotta go with Kongo. As has been said before, Kongo is a legit kickboxer with heavy, heavy hands, a good chin, better technique than Kimbo and a pretty good reach advantage. Kimbo has a suspect chin, Petruzelli KO'd him with a nothing shot and he's been put out by Forrest Pillowfists Griffin. He can deal out punishment, but he's a bit of a glass cannon. Kongo would have a height, reach, weight, technique, and probably power advantage. Kimbo would have, at best, a punchers chance

He was responding to my post because I used the word for you guys since despite following the sport as long as I have, it's nothing compared to the depth of you guys and your involvement directly with it.

That being said, while I agree with him that Kimbo showed improvement, I didn't see enough to actually be impressed with him as a fighter after last night.

He was responding to my post because I used the word for you guys since despite following the sport as long as I have, it's nothing compared to the depth of you guys and your involvement directly with it.

That being said, while I agree with him that Kimbo showed improvement, I didn't see enough to actually be impressed with him as a fighter after last night.

The problem with most of you guys is your looking at this from a stand point that Kimbo know some kind of mix martial arts, but his lack of even the basic wrestling skill is what is what shows his improvment.
