I don't know about 'official offer', it was probably Walsh and the Nuggets GM talking on the phone and somehow word leaked.

I heard Randolphs name alot last night, but the Knicks really like him. They were talking getting a third team involved again like the Pacers, Pistons, Atlanta, Sixers. One of those teams are looking for a big man. They also mentioned Igodola, T. Price, but no one wants to take on the salaries

Reports make it sound like Jersey pulled out because they wanted to save face. Melo was "non-committal" about meeting with them and they felt like they were being jerked around and didn't want to be turned down by Melo...

Teams reconsider trading for Melo

The Knicks' timetable for trading Anthony Randolph could be pushed back a week or so because of New Jersey's pulling out of the Carmelo Anthony chase, sources said.

The likeliest trading partners for Randolph have been Minnesota and Indiana, both of whom would take him for a first-round pick that the Knicks in turn would put in a trade package for Anthony. But there's a possibility the Nuggets may be interested in Randolph as a player.

Sources also say sentiment around the league that Anthony will sign with New York is so strong that many teams that have been willing to trade for Anthony as a rental are now reconsidering. For instance, the Rockets have long been willing to deal for Anthony without his signing a contract extension, hoping they could convince him to stay in Houston long-term. But if the Rockets feel their chances of convincing him are slim, they're not going to offer much, if anything.

While Anthony certainly wants to sign the three-year, $65 million contract extension with the Knicks, several sources close to the Nuggets superstar tell me he's willing to play out the season in Denver (or Houston, etc.) and sign with New York as a free agent, even if it means taking less money under the new collective bargaining agreement. Anthony understands he can make up at least some of the money in New York through endorsements.

Even if it doesn't get Anthony, the Rockets are expected to make a move. Carl Landry is available in Sacramento and the Rockets do have interest in bringing him back to Houston.

Despite the Cavaliers' poor record, lots of teams are interested in their players, viewing them as guys who can play a solid role on a contending team. If a Cavalier is moved, it's most likely to be Anthony Parker.

It's a shame how little he gets to play. I don't think I've seen him once in non-garbage time. Poor guy. He had the ankle injury to start the season and then by the time he was healthy he had been lapped by three or four other wings in the rotation.

Just once I'd like to see that guy get consistent minutes. He hasn't been in a good basketball situation since leaving high school. Could be a cross between Durant and Odom one day.

The Nuggets are in a terrible position because a) everyone is sick and tired of the distraction the Melo talk has become, b) they have almost no leverage in any trade talks and c) Nene wants out too.

The Knicks know they don't have to give up anything, they can wait until the off-season and sign Melo.

Will they feel as though they NEED him now? They've been playing some poor basketball of late (lost on a Durant buzzer beater last night) and they have little depth.

They could probably get him for Fields, Chandler, Curry, Randolph (getting a 3rd team involved to take Chandler)....but is that too much? Probably, since they'd be without a legit starting 2-guard.

Meanwhile, other teams know they'd only be renting Melo so Denver can't get anything worth a damn from teams like Houston or Dallas.

Wait it out. The Nuggets can go pound sand. We weren't supposed to be title contenders this year.

Personally I think they got a team that can contented for a championship right now maybe they can add another scorer but I don't think they need Melo if they do get him they will most likely not win for another year seeing how they will give up most of their good role players.Who knows Melo will Likely sign with them this offseason. Wonder where all this leaves Chris Paul the Knicks have no need for him maybe the Nets will get a superstar player.

Knicks have agreed to bring in former Nuggets GM Mark Warkentien as a "high-level consultant" to Donnie Walsh.

Yahoo!'s Wojo says the idea, although not fleshed out yet, is for Warkentien to have a bigger role in the franchise in the future (not sure if that means the idea is for him to take over for Walsh in the next couple years).

Warkentien was let go from the Nuggets organization in the off-season, but he supposedly has a strong relationship with Carmelo.

The NBA has hired a law firm to investigate the charges, which included several players and witnesses detailing serious rules violations.

Im so sick of the Carmelo talk already and these teams "loading up". In my mind there is a difference when a team signs a FA on the market because his former team didnt want to spend the money or whatever or making a move on the tradeline to add a player or clear some CAP space.

Sources: Three-team deal discussed


The Denver Nuggets and the New York Knicks are discussing a three-team trade that would make forward Carmelo Anthony a Knick before the Feb. 24 trade deadline, according to league sources.

In the proposed trade, New York would send Anthony Randolph and Eddy Curry to Minnesota and the Timberwolves would send Corey Brewer and a first-round pick to Denver. Denver would also receive Wilson Chandler from New York.

The deal is not expected to happen until the middle of next week at the earliest, and one source said it could drag out until the trade deadline. Denver, which has been exchanging proposals with the Knicks for the past couple weeks, is weighing other options.

With teams aware of Anthony's desire to play in New York, the Nuggets' choices are limited. With little chance of signing Anthony long-term, few clubs are willing to send valuable assets to Denver.

If the trade with New York and Minnesota goes through, Anthony would be in line to receive a three-year, $65 million contract extension as part of the agreement in what is known as an extend-and-trade.

Since Anthony's preference to play for New York is known, there is some sentiment within the Knicks organization to hold off on trading for him and wait until he becomes a free agent this summer. Such a move would enable them to keep their young assets.

But owner James Dolan has been pressing team president Donnie Walsh to trade for Anthony before the deadline, according to sources.

"Dolan is really pressuring Walsh to get Melo, but Denver has been vacillating back and forth," one of the sources said.

A trade to New York would end the season-long saga that began last summer when Anthony refused to sign the contract extension with the Nuggets.

Late in the preseason, reports of a potential four-team deal with New Jersey, Utah and Charlotte that would make Anthony a Net surfaced.

But league sources say the deal was overblown and New Jersey was actually leaking the story in an effort to pressure Denver's new front office regime of Josh Kroenke and Masai Ujiri into making a deal.

Last month, reports of another potential trade of Anthony to New Jersey surfaced, this time involving the Detroit Pistons. That deal was close to being agreed upon, but Anthony was reluctant to sign the three-year, $65 million extension with New Jersey.

Anthony agreed to meet with the Nets but owner Mikhail Prokhorov called off his club's pursuit of Anthony in a news conference a day before the scheduled sit-down was to take place.

yeah me too, if thats all we are giving up then why wait? Randolph isn't playing in NY, Curry is a FA after this year and so is Chandler who Melo would replace. But i think the Nuggets know that they are running out of options and time. The Knicks know this, so u never know but i have a feeling a deal gets done before the trade deadline.
