Yep, Braves will be in the Lilly/Capuano/Harang market if any one gets injured or Teheran falls on his face.

Absolutely. All three of those are the prime candidates to go (along with Capuano). The Dodgers would definitely eat contracts for better prospects as well.

Two pieces of information today:
* Scott Boras and Kyle Lohse are still asking for a three year deal, with a high average salary.
* Brewers and Orioles were scouting Aaron Harang today.

I'm not crazy, about Aaron Harang. Especially with the terrible BB/9 numbers he put up in 2012. But I'd still rather have him on a 1 year 9 million deal, then meet the crazy demand for Lohse. This is assuming that Harang could be had for basically nothing. But preferably the Brewers will acquire neither player.

I'd rather pay the money. I guess it depends on what you call a good prospect, but the Brewers system is too thin to give up anything of actual value.

Considering the loss of a first round pick, I think the most money I'd be comfortable giving Lohse is 3 years/25 million, preferably front loaded. And even then The thought of Lohse making 30 starts in 2015 for my team makes me queasy.

I think the loss of a pick should not be seen as a huge barrier to a deal. The baseball draft is enough of a crap shoot, this is not like losing a 1st rounder in the NFL draft. The fact that he is looking for a high annual salary (15mil+ a year is what it seems) is the biggest issue, or should be. I'm curious if any teams have actually thrown any offers at him, low balling him, hoping he will be desperate to sign.

Many factors here. Wants a ton of money for too many years, is old, doesn't have a history of being worth the money he's asking, and most teams would lose their 1st round pick.

That, the pick and the fact that he wants too many years, and you'll be paying a lot for production that's going to fall off after two years (it will likely be a four year deal.) He's been rumored to the Orioles all off-season, and with all of those factors in play, I would rather go with what we have, or send a decent prospect to the Dodgers for one of their veteran starters and have them foot the bill for the year.

I actually think the team will stick with what they have to be quite honest, I was just throwing out there what I would do if I needed to make a move. There are plenty of potential starters on the 40 man roster that they don't have to make a move at this point. Lohse isn't worth the move at this point.

I've heard a ton of Harang/Lilly-to-BAL trade rumors. But rumors are rumors. You'd want Harang. I shall LOL @ whatever team it is (if any) that trades for Ted Lilly.

Exactly what I'm getting at, but my point is that it's not the cost of the draft pick. It should be the salary he demands. That is what is insane.
