Lane Kiffin should be fired

8-4 wasn't exactly unrealistic considering their defense returned everyone. I think his biggest success was with McGloin...I think McGloin was the team's MVP. Played within himself in that offense and just let everything happen. Didn't force a single football this year.

I think 2013 and beyond is when the job for O'Brien gets really difficult. They lose a LOT of talent on defense this year. Also lose McGloin.

Yeah, I expected about 7-5 or 8-4, but I didn't see those happening after the 0-2 start.

McGloin only had two big WTF throws this year (in comparison to at least 20 over the past two seasons) but both of them were game-changers with a pick six against Ohio State to start off the second half and a near pick six against Nebraska that was returned to the 4-yard-line. Both throws were thrown right into the defender's chest. BOB did an incredible job with him this year, but he's still nothing more than a mediocre signal-caller at the very best.

I don't think the loss of McGloin will be that tough. The coaching staff likes Steven Bench a lot and 5-star Christian Hackenberg will be coming in, so there's two guys with more talent than McGloin has ever had. Obviously they won't find success in the system right off the bat, but they're better fits and will show it in the long run. If guys like Allen Robinson and Bill Belton stay, then the offense should be fine.

I'm more worried about the defensive side of the ball. Lot of talent leaves (although Mauti might petition for a sixth year, don't think he'll get it however), but there were a lot of young guys that came in and played well when given the opportunity. I'm afraid Ted Roof will remember he's Ted Roof though.

I don't think 2013 will be a bad year and the next two after will be even tougher as the depth/talent variables decrease, but the future doesn't seem to look as bad as it once did - as long as O'Brien stays. If he leaves, then everyone leaves.

Replacing the upperclassmen with equally solid (not great, but solid) players, is going to be difficult. Even in recruiting right now, they just aren't getting those kind of players.
