Quarterbacks coach Steve Kragthorpe, who helped recruit Kiel, also weighed in:

“Gunner’s a great kid. He comes from a very, very close-knit family. When it really comes down to it and time to get on the plane, he couldn’t do it. We knew that was part of the recruiting process. I talked about it with him very candidly.

“When I was playing at West Texas State, my dad [Dave] was coaching at Oregon State. My son’s at Idaho State. I have one in Chicago. I walked him [Kiel] through what it was going to be like. He woke up Sunday morning and was getting ready to go to the plane and said he couldn’t do it. I was disappointed he didn’t come because I wanted to coach him. I really liked their family. I think they’re wonderful people.

“The best way to describe it is, I understand.”

Ha not trying to imply that we drink more than everybody else. I feel like even with a football team, the sorority girls that insist on getting season tickets and going to every game will end up giving up their tickets because they're passed out in their own puke from tailgating before said game.

Happy for ND to get a really fucking good QB. What I'm trying to imply with these posts is that he'll be much more appreciated on a campus like ND or even LSU than he is IU because nobody will ever care for our FB players like we do out BB players.

If there's one guy who knows the importance of decisiveness and mental stability from the QB position, it's Les Miles. If this guy wasn't cut out for our top notch passing game, so be it. Let's face it, not just anyone can engineer our highly sophisticated aerial attack, and Kiel is just not cut out for it. Kudos for Les for calling like he sees it.

My point is that Gunner won't play at ND over Golson (most likely) and he'll get sick of the competition and transfer. I'm almost positive he will end up transferring. Where? Probably IU since it's an hour from home.

Actually not to derail this into a ND CONVO, but right now in spring practice a lot of people think, myself included, Kiel right now is the most talented on the team. Golson's demise being inaccuracies and not having a quick delivery. Obviously BK would prefer Golson over Kiel systematically, but sometimes things don't always work out. I think Kiel will redshirt(obviously) and if Golson doesn't get much going this season, Kiel very much has a chance realistically to make something happen with 4 years eligibility.
