Florida doesn't play Ole Miss this year.

People are really sleeping on Georgia... they have a lot back and the team is really rallying behind Joe Cox. They have their entire offensive line back plus Sturdivant (sp), a stud who missed all of last season. The backfield is always capable and deep and AJ Green is as good a target as any in the nation, and the defense has enough back to get by while the new guys get adjusted.

Georgia is my top surprise team for '09 and I'm not going to be surprised if they give Florida all they can handle on Halloween.

My bad, I meant Mississippi State in Starksville. Florida always seems to play shitty on the road in Mississippi, and this will be Dan Mullen's first year as HC there after being Meyer's OC for years.

Georgia is going to have a rough October, and if they can't win 1 of the 3 big time games they have OOC that month, the Gators will jump all over them. Cox may have support, but so did Drew Weatherford at F$U last year as a preaseason All American and he lost his job after 3 games.

The fact that the world is giving Florida the Natl' Title game appearance already is kinda scary, knowing that the only serious game they have this year is when they go to face Jordan Jefferson (who seems to be much improved than last season) and LSU, who I believe will give the Gators a game.

BTW, is it me or is OOC starting to get a little beefy all of a sudden? After the Miami/Oklahoma series ends this year, Oklahoma turns right back around and plays Florida State for a home & home. So kudos to whomever suggested that the Gators go out and play folks. After being solid for two years with Texas/OSU, I'm still waiting for the Horns to get back to challenging good schools (and Texas vs. PSU would be a damn good start to the season, IMO.)

It makes me sick when I see great games like what Oklahoma plays...yeah, UM and F$U are both way, way down, but they're still better than FIU. Florida had a decent OOC last year, and that helped...but Hawaii wasn't the same team they were the year before and UM was crap. Not that it made the victory any less sweet.

The only thing better than beating up UM is beating up F$U.

I dont even know where to go with this.... I hate him, I just do, dont know why, (maybe all the god talk), maybe the lying virgin talk. I know he is good, great, and even the GOAT. But i just hate him.

But what I hate more, is UF's OOC schedule. I know their great and all, but cant you at least play a mid level team from a mid level conference. Even a Louisville/Cincy/Virginia...ANYTHING.

And i truly believe that the SEC is being seriously overrated. There is UF, then a notch below but still very good are LSU, Bama and maybe Ole Miss. Nobody knows about UGA really, SC is always inconsistent, and who knows what the hell Lane Kiffin is doing to UT. Miss St, Kentucky, Auburn, Vandy. Arkansas

Only reason to root for USC is to see Taylor Mays and Tim Tebow meet and see who wins.

Pretty much. I'll be scared about Bama in 1-2 years, assuming all their players don't transfer or become academic washouts (because Nicky likes to sign 35 kids a class) but this year I'm not worried about them in the West. I'm worried about going to Tuscaloosa, yes, but considering that last year when we played we were at our decade low, without a QB, and Bama was at its decade peak with a senior QB, playing with all the momentum, and we still took them to OT, I think we'll be all right. Coach Miles knows how to get his players up for that one. It's not hard when it's Alabama.

I will say that if Alabama or Ole Miss do make it to Atlanta, it will be because of the schedule. LSU has to travel to both of those schools, plus Georgia. Drawing Florida every year never helps. Ole Miss's yearly inter-divisional opponent? Vanderbilt of course. Alabama's? Tennessee, normally formidable, but these days not.

So, if LSU's young QBs and DL can't get it together, we might struggle in those away games. But I still think we are a much better football team than Alabama or Ole Miss at this point.

And the running game will suffer in two aspects, the line and the loss of Coffee. But the passing game is going to be more respected, so the run will be just as effective. And Alabama has arguably the best defense in the nation.

But I want people to sleep on Alabama again. It feels great when you're the underdog.

The only team that has a real, legitimate chance of truly stopping the Gators this year is LSU...and that's because they are in Baton Rouge. Georgia is way, way down this year...UT is coming to the Swamp and Kiffin's going to get raped...Ole Miss is coming to UF as well.

Aside from the SEC schedule, UF's OOC schedule is embarrassing. Outside of F$U, they play Charleston Southern (which they are already favored by 73), Troy and FIU. I wouldn't be surprised that when the first BCS standings come out (if we are still undefeated) they aren't ranked #1 because of strength of schedule. UF has to get out and play some tougher teams...it's becoming an embarrassment.

Georgia plays Oklahoma State, Arizona State and Georgia Tech. UT plays UCLA. LSU plays away at Washington (who knows what Huskies will show up this year). Alabama plays VT. AUburn plays West Virginia.

Florida has the #34 strength of schedule here...but they make everyone else's super strong. Here's the top 10:

That is an impressive OOC slate, probably the best I've seen from an SEC team since the years Florida used to play Miami and FSU together, but even then they'd sandwich a game with FAMU or Citadel in there somewhere.

However, they might be ranked lower than SC because of how their conference slates differ.

Georgia gets LSU and South Carolina at home, and after playing Okie State does not have to leave the tri-state area with trips to Knoxville, Nashville, Jacksonville and Atlanta to close out the season.

South Carolina draws Georgia and Alabama on the road and also plays Ole Miss and Florida. They pretty much have the bizarro LSU schedule where instead of playing the top 2 from the East, they get (arguably) the top 2 from the West. Then a respectable OOC slate with 2 BCS opponents and a bowl winner last year in FAU.

September 12 Troy

They then play:
September 19 Tennessee
September 26 at Kentucky
October 10 at No. 11 LSU
October 17 Arkansas

Doesn't matter who is there in the beginning, if you kick ass in the end. Who knows what is gonna be what on October 19th? Don't just include the two softies............what counts is who's ass you kick in the end.....just get there and then the sheet speaks for itself. Lots of teams had better SOS last year and the year before and the year before.....didn't make any difference, those freakers stayed home for the New Year's dance, whether it was Texas, Oklahoma [who just mighr not even win their OK State battle...but then that game is last on their schedule, lol.

Florida is their worst enemy this year. Book it! Next year, they may be even better than this year......without #15.

USC & OSU are always over rated to start the season, then they show their true side the more games they play. The SEC is the dominant conference in college football, I think that has been proven several times over. Even when Auburn was undefeated and got screwed out of their chance of a NC.

I'll start out by saying I'm doing this shit on my phone, so it's pretty much impossible to quote everything that needs to be touched on.

Let's begin with the Zook Era. If we are gonna pretend like the years our team sucked ass, then Tennessee is the greatest team ever! (I'm cutting out all the years we didn't win a NC). I am by far one of the biggest Gator Haters on the planet, I hate the bull shit band wagoners (kudos to real fans who stick it out through the shit), and I hate for the media to idolize a player. Most of the time they are wrong, look at Peyton Manning. He is as good of a guy as Tebow, but it took him 7 years outside of college to prove he was a good player. In 10 years if Tebow has as many super bowl rings as he does NC rings, then put him in the HOF kiss his ass and move on to the next prodigy.

Ron Zook was a great recruiter. He recruited almost the entire 2006 NC team, but couldn't do anything with them. He's re-proven what a shitty coach he is by being unable to do anything with his recruits at Illinois, except go to a Rose Bowl and get their ass kicked.

I won't cut out all the years Florida won a NC (all 3 of them, BTW)...but Florida DOMINATED the SEC during the 90's. Simple domination. They were HORRIBLE during the 70s and 80s, mostly due to NCAA violations, but that's in the past...I live in the NOW.

As for Peyton, he was a great college QB who got multiple accolades. If you didn't know:

It's easy to call a team perfect when most of the games they play outside of the conference are against steroid pumped high school teams. It is also my belief that if we can't be a civilized sporting group and have a PLAYOFF then ever conference should have a championship game.

I've said from the beginning that UF's schedule will be their downfall this season. They need to hope that a whole bunch of people lose a game to pave their way to Alameda.

I also agree that all conferences should have a championship. Until that happens, the PAC10 and the Big 11 need to stop crying when/if they get screwed. How can you be the conference champion if you don't play all the best teams?
