How can sacks be Rodgers fault when he has no pocket to even step into? I see other offensive lines make a damn wall against our pass rush. How did he pick up this terrible habit all of a sudden compared to last year? Between the fucking holding calls on every play and pathetic protection it's the offensive line in my opinion. Sure Rodgers takes some sacks..but blaming him completely is a joke. When half of the plays result in a holding call or sack.


I don't know where to find the statistics, but I would be willing to bet our offensive line is the most punished for holding in the NFL.

Rodgers is developing a reputation for holding onto the ball way too long because he is too hesitant to throw until the receiver is wide open. Great for his stat line on turnovers but the Packers are only scoring on 5% of the drives this year in which Rodgers takes a sack (per the Fox announcer in the booth on Sunday).

Peter King made a great point in that the Colts offensive line is basically the same as the Packers in terms of skill right now but Manning has only taken 7 sacks because he gets rid of the ball so fast.

I'm seeing guards/tackles get pushed back into the QB, tackles blocking inside and letting DE's run free to the QB, tackles blocking inside and leaving DE's for the TE. Rodgers is running for his life far too often. The O-Line is horribly bad at pass protection. They are getting better at run blocking though.

He is... and could be top 5 material, in the near future. But throwing a guy on the top 5, without seeing two full seasons, is jumping the gun. A player doesn't even qualify for my top 10, until I see at least two seasons from the guy.

Blame the line, blame the defense, but a blind man can see Rodgers has a few flaws, that need some serious working on.

Who in there right mind would expect a guy with less than two years exp. to not have things they need to work on.

I'd just keep it at the fact that he is not a leader. Not only is he unable to make the players around him better, but he also is unable to win close games late. because Rodgers can't even pull off the game winning drive in the regular season.

When AR has backs that can catch the ball, and an average O-Line to work with, and doesn't get it done, then you can question his leadership ability.

I still don't understand the intense hatred and bashing of Rodgers ever since Favre-Gate. Hate Thompson and McCarthy. Thats fine and dandy. I don't agree with it but I can understand that. Rodgers had nothing to do with it.

What leverage would Rodgers, a 3 year pro who had seen maybe 40-50 season snaps, have to give an ultimatum. As bucky said, its possible to appreciate Rodgers, love Favre, and still be pissed at TT and MM at the same time. No he's not Favre but few are. I don't understand the need for Favre fans to put down Rodgers and twist and manipulate things to make him look bad.

How about using more short passing instead of using long ass routes down the field. No wonder he has to hold on to the damn ball. The routes don't develop till they are 15 yards down the field. Its plain old retarded.

100% agree on that. Right now problem #1 for me is McCarthy. The line is awful and Rodgers holds the ball too long but that can be somewhat offset by quick passes. For instance the quick slants that were so effective for the Packers for 3 years under McCarthy that he seemingly has forgotten about.

Hopefully the new GM will address the line early in the draft next year and not mind spending some of the huge cash reserves on an impact FA not able to be addressed in the draft.

The O-Line:

Sitton has looked good at RG so far.
Lang has looked OK so far. If he can be solid at LG then we have our guards.
I haven't seen enough of Spitz at center yet.

So at best we are looking at both RT and LT. I doubt we fill both those in the draft. Maybe on in the draft and one in free agency.

If Spitz doesn't work out at Center, or if his back (disk) doesn't heal, we will be looking for a center as well. Maybe they can get away with Wells for another year.

If Lang doesn't work out, we may be looking at 4, that's 4, O-Lineman to replace. Ouch.

Let's hope it's just RT and LT. Maybe Barbre will improve.

I keep saying this but he is the NFC's verison of Big Ben. Ben has the same problem where he has to hold on to the ball forever for the route to develop. The difference is that the Steelers have the best defense in the last 5 years and can cover up a TO on downs or fumble or sack. Hell the Steeler D negates the field position battle by how dominant it is. The Pack D is severely undermanned and has the wrong players for the scheme. You got Kampman at OLB, when he is a 4-3 DE and Al Harris backing off instead of Bump and Run.

Jesus.......with these issues and the O-Line like a sieve, I feel sorry for Rodgers and frustrated at the same time, cuz hes my Fantasy QB!

I know the WR's are good at getting open downfield and Rodgers has a gun of an arm but right now, he's not getting the protection to use those routes even 50% of the time...time to dial down the long routes, go short/intermediate...man who was running that offense that Favre last ran in his last year at GB?

I see the #1 problem is Campen and the ZBS. But I could easily be convinced to change it to McCarthy.

O-Line Problems: Scrap ZBS, Campen, and go back to a power running game w/ bigger O-Lineman.

Special Teams: Replace Slocum

Undisciplined team, a culture of accepting penalties, blown assignments, questionable play calling. Replace McCarthy

It's reasonable to question TT's talent evaluation of O-Lineman, maybe replace TT.

I haven't seen that many Cowboy's games. but some of the ones I've seen, he's thrown some timely picks and bad throws. You watch them much more than I do. Just saying what I've seen.
