New Mexico had no answer for Cal's Heisman Hopeful, Jahvid Best who rushed for 119 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Golden Bears jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the 1st quarter, thanks to two Best touchdowns, and a returned fumble by Sydquan Thompson. Not trying to run up the score, California tried their best to run as much clock out as possible in the second half, and only scored 13 more points the rest of the game. New Mexico would have been shut out, but they luckily scored on Cal's second team defense late in the 4th.
