I didnt see a thread, but they had some leaked images. For those of you who dont know about this game its a game made by Zipper, the former socom makers, and it will have 256 players in 1 match.

my get heat for it, but Confrontation is really good if you ask em and after Patch 1.5 its gonna be even better. But if it cheers anyone up rumor has it after Zipper is done with MAG, they will be working on the true sequel. Socom 4.

My one pet peeve with the new SOCOM's were how big the maps were. Besides this game would have horrible connection if it actually had 256 people in one room. Something like this would be cool in the future when connection problems don't really exist.

Cool, they should of been working on a true Socom for next gen years ago. They should of never made Socom 3 for the PS2. They should of put more time into Socom 3 for an PS3 launch title. I bet that would of helped the PS3 sales. I would of bought a PS3 at launch for a Next Gen Socom. Socom Confrontation is good, but it would of been better if it was made by Zipper. Just my 2 cents.

Rumor had it that the real title was going to have a SOCOM designation, but I guess MAG has kinda stuck. It's similar to Cloverfield and how the code name ended up being the final name.

If Sony can't have a normal 1v1 game of The Show without lag, how come they can do this shit with 256 people?

Resistance 2 has 60 player matches that are lag free...256 is alot more, obviously, but it can be done. I would assume these are going to be developer/Sony hosted servers, not player hosted...which will help, ALOT.

Why? MMO Servers house 2000+ players online at a time, 256 is certainly do-able with today's technology.

The Show's netcode seems to be what is fucking this all up. Pretty sure Sony isn't the one to blame as they can roll other games with decent performance, and our home connections certainly can support gaming.

I will buy a Ps3 for a good solid game from zipper, SOCOM I and II ate up so much of my life, I was in love with those games, man... I wish I could just hang around and bullshit with all the people I met through those games, and of course whoop some ass in them...

256 players seems like a giant clusterfuck.

but, at least there won't be the one man teams anymore.

Clan matches are gonna suck though.

The maps need to be ridiculously large with that # of people online.

That was one of the killers of Socom 3 for me. The maps were too freaking large. After awhile, when the whole team had been weeded through and there was only one or two guys, it became ridiculously hard to find guys.

It does. BUt from everything I've read they will be grouping you in squads of 8. Your squad will tasked with it's own objective for each match, which may be 'plant the bomb at point A' or 'eliminate all of the team members from the other teams Alpha Squad'.

Yea and the servers wont lag because they will be dedicated servers from Sony themselves.

This looks sick, but I hate playing shooters with more than 12 people total. I actually prefer 8 (CoD2 ftw)

Ya we haven't heard that before :rofl:

Just have to look back to SOCOM 1, 2, and 3. Hit detection was fucking horrible some days. Not to mention the teleporting.
