They switched it up with a view of the stadium, players coming out of the helmets, and fireworks. I'm sorry you didn't like it, but if they make the same entrance they made last year, people would complain and say it wasn't fresh.
Why? I don't know anyone who thinks that this years pre-game scene was better than last years.
Yeah, and how often did you actually use that paper football table? In fact, how much time did you spend in your "house" at all? And you get points in Madden when you win games as well.
That's exactly what it is: useless. I'd rather see more improvements elsewhere than an attempt to recreate the Sims.
2K5 had a solid game and it threw in these extras for people who might like them. You can tell that the developers from 2K5 didn't take away from the actual gameplay to add in the mansion stuff.
In madden they never really add anything to the game year after year, they just swap features. Like ok, we'll give you smart routes back but we'll take away the QB Cone. We'll give you a virtual training room, but we'll have to take away the 2-minute drill to do this. We had to make room for are 40 YD Dash so we had to get rid of the Linemen pass rush drill.
Madden has all the chips to be the perfect Football game but the developers never go all in, they always hold back.
Now imagine '09 if It had:
The franchise mode from '03-'06
The Old Gen drills that actually helped your skillz
The 2-minute drill that it used to have
The old Practice Features
QB Cone(more of an opinion thing) that it used to have
You know what else I loved about madden on the old gen that I always forget about? That madden 101 thing. They actually took you unto a practice field and broke down plays for people who didn't know too much and wanted to learn the basics to becomming a real good player. They showed you what the play was designed to do and it even showed where your reads should be. It even had a commentary with it. One that has a great "football for dummies" section that will help people of all skillz.......Now that's a football game feature if I've ever seen one.
All the EA Developers would have to do is look at the public reaction of these old features or even start a poll on their site to see what features people have liked the most in the past. Now imagine if you combined '03-'09 keeping the pros and getting rid of the cons.
Come on though seriously, what was the main focus point of this years game? From what I saw at E3, their whole selling point was the stupid backtracker, the rewind system, and the madden IQ. Now of these 3 features which one actually makes the game more enjoyable for the hardcore madden player.......
All madden is doing is getting rid of good features, throwing in bullshit ones to occupy our time, and then bringing the old good features back and using them as "selling points" for their game. Like they did this year with the smart routes and like they probaly will soon with the QB Cone
Since 2K can't make new football games to compare to new madden games, lets' look at the area where they are able to compete........
When I decided to buy B-ball I brought 2K9 not because it looked good but because NBA Live looked stupid as hell.
WTFs with all this DNA, Cold/Hot Streaks, made fresh daily(lol) shit. So you telling me that if T-Mac has a horribly game, when I go to play an online game
that same day he will suck and miss like 80% of his shots? So we're only as good as the real player who plays that day, that's stupid. That right there sold me to 2K9. Then when I went to play the demo 2K9 takes you straight into the game and NBA Live makes you watch a video showcasing their new features. Hmmm the demo is stupid and pointless, remimds me of the demo for a certain football game I know.....
2K9 is lightyears ahead of Live and I'm sure that if they would have kept making football games 2K9 would be lightyears ahead of Madden.
I'm sure Live thought it features were going to be cool but NBA 2K9 makes Live look like a joke. Not to mention the fact that Live is only 40 bucks now, I'm guessing it's because they're getting their ass kicked in sales.
The same goes for EA in madden, I'm sure they think there new features are cool but the only difference is that they don't have any other football game to make them look like a joke. They can throw whatever the hell they want in the game and people have no other options because it's an Monopoly.
The end of the story is the EA developers for Madden are a joke. Why do you think they brought the exclusive license rights? I'm pretty sure they know that there game is horrible and that's why they don't want any competention.
